I had troubles with most common lubes. They are made for women, and aren't really meant for anal. They contain glycerin, which can cause yeast infections in some women, but have the horrible side effect of making one have the sensation of "having to go" if used anally.

Sliquid is glycerin free, and the sassy brand is thicker, which is better for anal.

Ideally you would use silicone based lube, but if you have silicone toys, silicone lubricants will ruin them. Got to keep those bad dragons in shape.

Don't use just anything laying around the house. If you're going to do it, do it right.

Go to the pharmacy. Look around for where they keep the condoms. That's where they keep the lube too. Buy some of that, it's safe and made for sex. Should be like, $10 for a little bottle of it. Water based lube works really well and cleans up easily with a little soap and water.

If you don't have a dildo I recommend using a toothbrush handle. They're thin enough to get in easily and long enough to poke around and find what you're looking for. The shape is usually pretty good for that too. Pick up some condoms to put over it too. The lube & condoms at one place and the toothbrush at another so you don't get any curious looks at the register.
