Yeah it seems like just a rock but it's part of a project that I may yet again abandon and take pieces of and rebuild as something else.

I was trying to make a game, it was going to be a collectathon RPG much like Golden Sun does with Dijin where you rebuild the final boss by gathering it's shards across the world otherwise you get a shit ending.

I'm going to go for a more classical approach I guess until I deviate. I'm thinking a Gothic fantasy tragedy where the final boss is the main character's love interest. I want people to suffer.

something I started typing in another thread about a teen girl who accidentally killed herself by using her phone in the bathtub while it was charging, but quickly evolved into my thoughts about smartphones and the current internet in general.

Smartphones are great pieces of technology but much of the world is so encapsulated by the novelty they bring that they forget how to best use them, and the dangers they bring. To have a chocolate-bar-sized device with an HD display, takes 1080p 60fps video, as well as sometimes 4k photos, that can contact people via call, text, video chat, or across the internet with wireless speeds crushing what was available ten years ago, and has the processing power to rival a 7th-gen console, is one of the greatest technological and commercial marvels to be seen, and was even considered a rediculous notion in the mid 2000's.
Our problem with smartphones is that a person can get endlessly distracted by one whenever and wherever they like, as long as the phone has enough of a charge. It becomes easy to forget about what and who's around you when using one, to the point that this girl died in the tub when plugging her phone in to charge. There's all sorts of pictures from when iPhones were relatively new with people looking down at their phones, whether walking across a busy street or sitting together in a room, supposed to be enjoying each other, yet mentally miles away.
As has been seen, smartphones and social media go together like bacon and eggs, PB&J, and so forth. Nearly every 1st-worlder can share whatever is on their mind or whatever they've been doing with that same chocolate-bar-sized rectangle. The problem being, not only that social media fuels people's narcissism, but social media has algorithms. Search engines have algorithms. Shopping sites have algorithms. Algorithms are everywhere. Algorithms work to show you more of what you like, but you slowly stop seeing what you don't like, creating echo chambers.

I made a really ghetto pipe solution after the piping in the shower went out. The house was made in like ~1930 so it's super fucking old and the piping is all outdated cast iron, i.e. pretty much impossible to find proper fitting connections. Anyways I went to home depot and spent like 30 bucks on some PVC, rubber flexible connectors, and copper tubing somehow managing to come up with a contraption that actually works. Been like 3 years and the shower drains just fine still.

Facebook and Google's mountains of algorithms have, in ten years, changed what were just considered differing opinions into social, moral, and ideological heresy. Before focusing on that, Google has it's eggs in so many baskets that it has become nearly impossible to avoid picking one of their eggs, whether you decide on a smartphone (Android), email (Gmail), social media (G+, Blogger, and YouTube), advertising (AdSense), data plans (Project Fi), ISPs (Fiber), and even in your home (Nest, Google Home).
Back on track, one great example of algorithmic manipulation is when the world discovered that Facebook altered the feeds of 689k users to amplify or even change their emotions and opinions (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jun/29/facebook-users-emotions-news-feeds). Hundreds of millions use platforms like it to converse in day-to-day life, but don't have a clue of social media's inner workings. To willingly, albeit ignorantly, sacrifice part or all of your privacy and personal life in order to fund the website you use is one thing, but for that website to slowly reshape your mind into whatever the higher-ups desire is an equally silent but much more deadly monster.
More algorithmic echochambers are found in sites allowing the blocking of other users, voting models (stars, like/dislike, up/downvote, etc), and the selection of insulated communities on those sites (ex. subreddits). The rampant spread of echochambers online has made argument at times impossible, with smartphones helping to bring ideological wars closer to you and more accessible.
Meanwhile, tech companies and governments take advantage of users by surveiling and data-mining them at every turn, two good examples being the borderline spyware of Windows 10 and the NSA

As these websites and programs collect more information about us, they know us better, filtering out more and more, feeding us simpler narratives, making us more irrational until the perceived black-and-white worldviews start clashing in the real world (see the rising political violence from groups such as Antifa). Until our biases, strengthened by the algorithms and insular bubbles, make relationships and families easier to fall apart over what would be considered petty disagreement.
The ways to stopping the simplification of our thoughts relies on finding alternatives to the current social media platforms, ones that don't use algorithms to influence our thoughts behind the scenes, that allow any viewpoint to be discussed freely. To abandon any programs that collect user data is beneficial as well, as many tech companies have eggs in multiple baskets, commonly selling eggs to one another. However, it will be impossible to know for sure that these alternatives don't influence or watch us if we can't see what lies under the hood of the programs we use: open source software. The last, and possibly most important step, is to make our personal information so secure as to make the abuse of said information impossible: Encryption.
Our devices, whether computers, smartphones, or whatever else, are fantastic pieces of technology that must be protected from the abuse of outside forces.

I'm using Ableton live 9 but all the synths came from Native Instruments FM8. So far the best synth I've tried.
Drums are the 606 built in with some effects on top (multiband compressor for the most part)

Listening to some of your tracks now anon, I really love it!! I see your repost of a Robbie Basho track too, he was one of my favorite musicians. Really love that Fahey/Basho/Jack Rose type of stuff, I experiment with some of it myself.
Lately I've been playing with eastern/indian influenced stuff in open tunings (as well as black/doom metal and noise, not as related though.)
