/r9k/ was intended to be a greentext board. It was created for sharing of greentext stories. The inclusion of the robot was part of an attempt to keep the focus on original stories from autists. Banning greentext on /r9k/ essentially gives the board no purpose, turning into /b/ with a stricter spam filter.
