Maturity is subjective. Most people can handle drinking before 21 but laws say otherwise. Mental age and life experience govern maturity outside of sex organ development. Yes, I can see it happening in society more and more. People are starting to push the sexualization of children. Lowering the age of consent will be the next big progressive movement, as predicted back in the day.
Society has lost its reverence for sex and now treats it as no big deal. That's how they got people to accept all sorts of sexual deviencies.
You were born in to an era where, in your lifetime, you will witness the complete breakdown of the family and a society where objectification and fetishization are par for the course, and something we once found abhorrent and unthinkable, the sexualization of children, will be accepted and promoted.

I would like to see more morals in society. A society where children and teens aren't encouraged to be sexual, but instead encouraged to find meaning in other things. Practicing chastity until they reach an age where they are mature enough to provide for a family. And just a few decades ago, this sort of culture was commonplace. But it isn't going to come back. Just by observing the way society is going.

They are winning. They are already subtly starting to get society to accept the idea of the sexualization of children. They will push for the age of consent to be lowered and it will happen within your lifetime. There is no point in getting mad about it. It's just how things are going.
