I left it alone at first, thinking the parents would come back to take care of it. (typical behavior for these birds) It had been 3 days, and the bird hadn't moved more than 5 feet. Combine this with my workplace patching up gratings and meshes, and it seemed likely the parents had no way to get to it.

Sure, I could have left it there. I've seen plenty of dead juvenile birds like this in the area, though, so it's not like it's likely to survive.

a few weeks ago i had a bird as well
usually them being on the ground means they're fledglings and their parents are watching

if it's wet outside or there are predators around take them in, but put them in the tub or something because they can carry bird mites

put it on something tall in its box in the morning and keep watch over it

do not attempt to feed bird or it will not be scared of beople and might end up getting smashed by some shitty kid
