Sounds like she's either been very hurt from a past relationship or that she for some reason doesn't think she's good enough for a relationship due to somebody putting her down or self-esteem issues. Could be something entirely different, life isn't always a toss-up between two variables.

I would try asking her why she said those things but not in an interrogative manner. Just tell her you want to be able to be open and discuss issues so you two can become closer.

And let her know that nobody has to be "good" for anybody. If you like her and she likes you, that's all you have to answer to.
