I really really liked the devilish handsome ace detective Manny Pardo. He and his thick skin really set the great mood for this game.

Both games were the devs just being pissed off at people actually liking their fast paced murder simulator. There's a reason why they made you backtrack through every level to see what you did while eerie music played. The devs make fun of you for not doing the puzzle in the first game and the second game obviously does nothing to reward you for figuring out the lore or secret hunting other than seeing some dead people at a bar. The whole thing was just a massive middle finger that people ate up because it was actually fun and the music was dank.
