In a perfect world where the legal system was perfect and not obscenely expensive and prone to error I'd say "depends on the severity of the crime and likelihood that the guilty will do it again because some people can't be fixed." but honestly unless there's concrete evidence (like a photo of the guilty doing the crime) then I say it's the worth the cost of an innocent person being killed or more tax dollars than necessary going toward a scumbag, whether it be his death or his continuation and in many cases it's more expensive to kill an inmate than to simply lock them up forever.

Regardless of how one feels about this particular case the Death sentence isn't a good system to have. For one, it's EXTREMELY expensive for the state to murder someone and takes years for it to properly go through. If you want the guy to have his just desserts for the crimes he's committed just send him to a private prison for 20 years in the states. Thanks to their purely profit-driven system, he'll be rotting away in a 3x2 concrete coffin while getting his turkey basted taken by Big Bubba every night while surviving on a diet of cum, Grade F mashed potatoes and something that resembles meat.

Justified? No, probably not. In most cases, the death penalty costs the state more than if they had just jailed someone for life until they died of natural causes.
Also, it seems unnecessary unless the person poses a legitimate threat to society. I would only really recommend the death penalty if the guy has killed like 50 people and has escaped from max-security prisons just to go kill some more. At that point, he needs to be killed. Otherwise, there's very little reason to impose the death penalty outside of petty revenge.
Two deaths isn't better than one.

When dealing with inmates on death row a lot of the cost comes from court dealings in the legal system because often than not the inmate will try to appeal his death sentence is a long and costly process. And from my earlier point, private prisons are EXTREMELY CHEAP. They literally keep inmates alive on pennies, it's really just cheaper to throw them in some shithole private prison where they'l get shanked by some thug if you're main concern is retribution. But I'd rather see the private prison system abolished altogether tbqh. Unfortunately the topic of crime and punishment itself in the US is a pretty huge issue, a lot of reform has to be done.

No. The death penalty is not justified simply because of the fact innocent people can be, and have been, erroneously executed.

Thats unacceptable to me. I'll admit there are some people out there who deserve a bullet between the eyes but quite frankly having every one of them locked up for life is better than killing someone who didn't mean it. If it turns out years after the fact they're innocent you can always release someone and try to make amends, but you simply can't un-execute someone.
