Find a public club or organization that meets regularly in your city/town that's of the interest of your choice. A lot of these types of places genuinely welcome newcomers. If it does not vibe well with you after a couple visits, cut loose and try another.

Somewhere you can be comfortable and be yourself. Personally, something like video games, anime, or music would be my thing.

I'm 32 years old, kinda fat and I look like Zach Galifianakis. I do have some success but results vary greatly and I have a lot of learning to do.

I'm in a local Facebook group for like-minded nerds who do the same thing, so I'm going to meet up with them.

Travel to the nearest big city/town. Find a hipster bar and have a pint. When you're feeling buzzed start a conversation with someone. Walk around and look at hot girls if it's a nice night. Leave.

Am I the only one who is actually happy to stay in on Friday night, get comfy, watch something, have a drink and relax?
Going out is a real hassle.

I felt so much pressure in college to do something every Friday night. Now I've spent most Friday nights alone for a couple years now and I'm honestly way happier this way. I never actually disliked being alone, I just felt social pressure to dislike it.

This. I was on my way to becoming a normie when I studied but I always had some anxiety whenever I went out to do something, it dosent go away even if you do it often.
It makes it harder to have a good time, I rather do something fun that dosent involve people.
I don't even want to get laid if I can't even connect with said girl in the first place.

Late 20s still in school. Got news my dad's cancer has advanced. Really depressed but i need to graduate. Going to get kicked out of apartment when he dies.

Why?
I am very social at work and do things probably once or twice a month with friends/people

Ive been going to bars alone on busy nights for a month or so now. Occasionally someone talks to me, but usually just the bartender. Im a "regular" now and she usually slides me a free drink. End up going home a couple hours later feeling slighty worse than before I left. Guess ill keep trying
