Happy pills are not happy, nor are they medicine in my opinion. If you can find some combination of things that works to stabilize your mood (enough to pass socially) I'd be happiest if none of that included a pharmaceutical compound developed by the human race.

People who actually do what they are told medically only benefit if their condition is perfectly well understood medically, none of which applies to "mental illness", and then only if the medical community has some kind of robotic best practices drilled into it on the level of cultural elixirs like "wash your hands before you do anything."

Anyone attempting to help you with your own state of mind other than yourself, who has a goal in mind, is only going to harm you. Either vindictively, when you don't act as they want, or emotionally from the pressure of conforming to what someone else wants you to do.

Mental illness is in many ways the final step of personal physiological and cognitive development, and lots of people forcefully fuck it up or prevent it from doing what it is supposed to. The parts of yourself that don't make sense, that don't work, you can't remain attached to them at a certain point, even if they are what you think of as your own identity. You need to be able to accept the death of your own self, your own value system, the things in the world that you care about, that taste good, to let go of all of that.

Ultimately finding another person to share your life with is in a general sense the most important part of this, or the keystone for most people and certainly most women. Female sanity is kind of a joke and the idea of women living independently on their own, in their own bachelor pads where they contemplate the boat they always wanted to build or writing their own software is the ultimate goad to that civilization wide prank on women.

First learn to identify yourself, and try to understand who specifically would fit that. Find a mission, even if it's just a way of life.

I don't take my pills and fight the good fight day in and out. As some one with a mental illness as well I think if someone is not willing to accept it from the start then don't bother with them. You can always do better, and try to be better with how you cope. We are complete on are own as individuals and having a other is simply a plus. I would love to be with a special person but it increases my range and brings out more difficulties with my mental illness so I just focus on getting better one step at a time. I started working again, I'm gonna go back to school in the fall and get a degree, and I am gonna just reach goal after goal.
