I have seen some Law-bots on here, but med-bots seem very rare.

If you are a med-bot, tell me more about yourself and your work, I'm genuinely curious if you exist or not.
>>
I'm a trainee surgeon in the UK. 26, KHV, working as a trauma and oerhopaedic surgeon. Work is good but as you'd expect you're surrounded by normalfags the whole time which is less than ideal, but five years of medical school forces you to become better at speaking to people. Medical school was fucking shit though.

Before I got into surgical training in I did vascular surgery, ICU, geriatrics, psychiatry and gen med jobs, which were all not that bad desu. Orthopedics is by far and away the only thing I'm interested in though.
>>
>>38168903
Why KHV? Are you a Pajeet?
>>
>>38168903

Assuming you are a man, does it attract more women?

I admire your dedication anon, I always wanted to be a doctor, but never had work ethic to do it.
>>
>>38168940
Yeah I'm a Pajeet. Born and lived in UK my entire life but first gen immigrant parents so brought up to think work and school was more important than anything else so ignored all relationships until I became a surgeon. And now they are all 'why have we never seen you with a girl' and shit, top kek. I don't really give a fuck about it despite being in the best position to not be a KHV anymore. I'd rather just work and read Manga all day.
>>
>>38168903
Doctor anon, does it surprise you when you come across patients who are adult virgins? I hate discussing my lack of sexual history.
>>
>>38169033
Can't you ask for an arranged marriage?
>>
>>38169007
It does actually yeah. During school and uni I would never get any attention (as you would expect). But now I get asked out every now and then, not regularly but still more than never so still an improvement. Most people still think it's quite a good job to get into but it's lost a lot of its prestige over the last decade, but the work has become slightly better so it's a fair trade I guess.
>>
>>38169034
This isn't going to make you feel better but I've never met an adult virgin at work. Even in psych where some of these people are too unsafe to live with other people are still not virgins.

>>38169056
There is a concern that this could happen. I don't want a relationship at all though and I definitely don't want to get married.
>>
Currently in early med school. Not much to say, it's mostly just regular studying at this point.
>>
>>38169073
>>38169073
Do you work with any other robot doctors? I can't help but feel like there is a bunch of awkward sperg men and women who ended up becoming med students because they didnt give a shit about social things growing up
>>
>>38169116
Oh jeez, thank you for the answer. This might explain why my doctor looked at me like I was a sperglord when I told her that I'm still a virgin at 30+.
>>
>>38169154
Are you male or female?
What made you want to enter med school?
>>
>>38169197
>I can't help but feel like there is a bunch of awkward sperg men and women
Not in my experience, almost everyone's super social.
>>
>>38169210
Male.
>What made you want to enter med school?
Basically, because I can. I don't really have any interest in anything, but since I have the opportunity to study medicine I want to try it and not let it go to waste. I just want something that'll practically guarantee you a job.
>>
>>38168793

i'm studying for a diploma in biomedical science, does that count?

I dont know what to do with my life and it seemed interesting so i applied. Unfortunately i'm a brainlet and this is all so difficult. I just hope i can graduate
>>
>>38169197
There are literally no other robot doctors apart from me. Not even exaggerating.
>>
>>38169253
Interesting, is it hard to devote enough time to the study if you aren't particularly passionate about it

>>38169264
What made you choose medicine anon? What do you plan on specialising in?

>>38169277
Do you plan on becoming a doctor eventually
>>
>>38169356

Yeah it's not going so well, I have a lot of catching up to do.
>>
>>38169356
i wanted to become a research scientist at first, but now i'm not so sure. maybe its the depression speaking but i dont really have any goals in life besides staying alive
>>
>>38169449
Kinda answers another question of mine. So doing a challenging course hasn't actually made you happier?
>>
>>38169522
not really, science was an interest of mine but it wasn't until i was here that i realized it was not enough of an interest for me to enjoy all this. I still haven't found any passions that i want to pursue whatsoever
>>
>>38169356
>Interesting, is it hard to devote enough time to the study if you aren't particularly passionate about it

I'm the surgeon from earlier in this thread and I got into med school for the same reason as the other guy because it guarantees a job (and because my parents made me). I don't find anything interesting so the course was quite boring until I started doing procedural stuff, but it's definitely possible to be a doctor even if you don't find it interesting.

Before med school I would never talk to anyone and kept to myself. I still do that know but I can at least keep eye contact and hold conversations with people now for work purposes, which i never thought I'd be able to do.
>>
>>38169677

Really, personally I don't think I could do that amount of work without being 100% interested in it. I guess it's probably worth it in the end, as you said it's basically 100% job rate
>>
Friendly reminder that GP doctors don't know shit.

Among the medical profession, paramedics and surgeons are top-tier for actually saving lives, and next is probably clinical psychologists. Western medicine is total garbage, and doctors are incredibly naive; they're basically a product of the big pharmaceutical industry.

Ultimately, health = nutrition. Best book on that is The Recipe For Living Without Disease.

>t. several years researching health, nutrition, etc
>>
>>38169753

>psychologist

That's not even a medical field

Med student here. Two more years till I'm officially a doctor.

Not much to say, it's an interesting subject, and I wanted a job that requires higher education but doesn't lead to me sitting in an office all day.

So far it's pretty good.
>>
>>38169939
Male doc or female doc?

What brings a doctor to /r9k/, I always thought it was the easiest way out of robotdom
>>
>>38169981

No. Go to the campus of a medical school. It requires high grades so you will see autists from all layers of society cramming in some last minute OCD details before their next test. Litterally the cringiest gathering og people you will ever meet. Money is good, but would rather be a plumber.
>>
>>38170158

So you're not the only robot there. Guess that's conflicting Medbots in here then
>>
Not a doctor, but I've seen a few medical technologists here. It's a good career for robots.

Male
For one I am well below average looking, and I had almost no friends throughout high school.
Now my social skills have improved but I still drop by here every now and then.

>>38170158
I'm pretty happy with that part. I actually managed to make friends in med school. They're all damaged or have less social skills then me but I don't really mind. And they're pretty smart otherwise.
>>
>>38169734
For me I'm not interested in anything, and that isn't an exaggeration. So when the work get hard and the hours are long I usually find myself thinking that I wouldn't be doing anything else anyway so no need to get worked up about it.

It's a good way of thinking because I haven't burnt out and don't find myself getting stressed. It also meant that I can do stuff like pass professional exams early and do additional degrees without it being a pain in the arse.
>>
>>38168793

>tfw I failed out of pre-med in college

FUCK. I thought my shitty robot loner life, and not losing my virginity until I was 19 was gonna all pay off in the end. But nope, I'll be stuck in my shithole for a long time. Now I have literally zero idea what to do with my life, and I know my parents think I'm a loser.

Australian first year med student here.
medical school is nearly all normies, but I can survive because i'm ok looking and (the one thing that saves me socially) funny.
>>
>>38171348
Really, what state are you in? Most of the ones I've seen in NSW are Asian or Indian autists.
>>
>>38171093
I think I earn about 33K Britbong pounds a years. It's going to go up a bit next year when I start my second year of surgical training.

A small amount of what I earn goes on rent and petrol, some of it is for courses and conferences but I save the majority of what I make. I don't like buying shit and going on holiday and I'm quite happy just being able to stay at home and listen to music and read manga so I don't spend money on anything. It's quite nice not having to worry about it.
>>
>>38168793

I'm an EMT. Probably not a very robot job because, you know, you have to communicate with people in high-stress situations. Ask me anything.

>>
>>38171440
Ah ok, from what I've seen I would say it's 75% Asian in NSW, and the spots are so limited they mostly go to the autist types, or those who substituted social life for school work.
>>
>>38171466
It's because we have to work in the NHS until we become senior enough to have a private practice, and NHS pay is pretty shit all things considered. The earliest I can be a consultant surgeon is 33, so 7 more years, but no one manages that straight away. By then your NHS pay is around 80K minimum and then the rest is your private practice. NHS pay is getting even worse but I hardly give a fuck, I'm not going g to have kids or get married so I don't need loads of money to look after myself, I already make more than I need now and I'm just starting my proper training.

I've never been Australia but my mates who train there say the pay is much higher. Like an average surgeon can afford a private jet for example.
>>
>>38171410

are you trying to go for firefighter?
>>
>>38171555

I could, someday, but I really don't know right now.

I'd just recovered from literal years of depression when I started, but I'm two months in and I feel it coming back. May or may not be related to the job.

Why med school in romania sucks:
1.If youre parents are doctors the teachers know them and u get only 10s.If doest matter how retarded u are
2.If u are rich(witch i aint) u can pay your exams or pay to get the subject for the exams=only 10s
3.If u are a girl romania,a very autistic one with no boyfriend before faculty u will want a male surgeon as a bf(no matter how ugly he is,the only thing that matters for them in money and 10s at exams) .A college of mine sucks cock of a 50 years old surgeon with a wife and kid and shes good looking(kinda short)

Yes, but im too selfless to care about anyone, i save them because it make me look good.
Worst scenario seen a teenager whose mother doesnt even mutter when body found, still today o think it wasnt a hero
>>
>>38171692
I think it's bragging to say I studied medicine because 'lol why not' because I found it very hard and fucking miserable every goddamn day, but I went in and stuck with it because I didn't have anything I really wanted to do and I knew it'd pay off well enough in the end.

Being an actual doctor is way better than being a student. It's a better lifestyle for me because it's more routine and there's fewer people around you acting like children trying to get wasted and shit all the time, as is the case in uni.

>>
>>38171909
Don't worry about it, I just didn't want to come across like a dickhead because everyone in medicine is like that. Fucking every medical student I have ever come across thinks they are the hottest shit around, I love watching them flounder when they actual start working in the real world.
>>
>>38168793
3rd year med student. Canadian school.

Preclinicals are basically high school all over again, since you see the same 100+ people every day for two years. I didn't make a single real friend in all four years of uni, since I just kept my high school buddies (who were really elementary school friends) close. Most of the guys here are too opportunistic to actually befriend or they're narcissistic douchebags, but there are a couple diamonds in the rough to bond with. The girls on the other hand all seem either one of SJW or psycho, so no luck there for me. Academically, classes were a lot easier than I anticipated. I thought I would at least have to kick my procrastination habits but nothing's really changed, it's mostly free time till exams come around. Next year is hospital work though so time to break my back. The nicest part is all the access to loan and scholarship money, since I was pretty poorfag before entering so life's gotten a lot better. Been able to help out my family a lot too.
>>
>>38172135
Yeah, that's not surprising. Watching normies getting status educations or high paying jobs is like watching children being allowed to stay up late or getting candies on a Wednesday
>>
Checking in to say I am 2nd year allopathic med student in the USA just for the head count
>>
>>38172346
I'm aware this makes me sound like a horrible person but I don't give a fuck. I often like watching my normalfag colleagues struggle with their jobs and balancing out their work and social lives, mainly because in med school no one though I was going to make it out other end. Most of them thought I didn't deserve to be in there I. The first place because I didn't like speaking to people and wasn't empathetic (I am empathetic, I just don't show off about it like a normalfag does) and I was an average student in med school.

Then we all got jobs and they are falling flat on their arse and I am doing great. I passed my surgical exams 2 years early, did a masters degree in engineering before my 30s and am flying g though my training programme. And now all the people who were high achievers in med school don't know what they want to do or are quitting because they can't handle the pressure. I just sit back and think good, fuck them. Every day serves to remind me that of you stick to your guns and work hard, the normalfags will eventually end up being BTFO and you'll be the one doing well for yourself.
>>
Can you anons give me study tips?

I have absolutely no study habits, can't pay attention in class and have generally shit memory. I'm trying to change this but so far i've been getting about 40/100s on my exams. I can't drop out, so graduating is my only option.
>>
I might start med school this autumn. The thought of studying Chemistry for 5 years just sends shivers down my spine.
>>
>>38172702
>>38172702
Flashcards, active learning (teach an imaginary audience), and practice questions. Any one or a mix should work.
>>
>>38172782
Med school doesn't involve much chemistry. The first couple of years are mostly bookwork and will involve biology and chemistry to some extent. Once you get to your clinical years, taking histories, diagnosing people and coming up with management plans becomes more important. Then when you get senior again and do professional exams all the chemistry and biology which you thought you could forget once you graduated comes back again.
>>
>>38171552
Did you ever consider moving abroad to earn more pay?
>>
>>38172479
You forget where you are. The shit normies values makes no difference here. I've met my share of incompetent people in high education jobs and I don't respect them for it when they are shit as people and their perspectives are lacking. In my country, it's seen as a bad thing thinking oneself above others. But in my eyes, if you are literally above others because you're not a terrible kind of person, then it's ok to express so in contexts like these. It wont necessarily impact your job with patients who need help unless you allow it to, so it's ok.

I understand the frustration of not being able to voice that kind of distaste for other people, because I've felt it myself. I know if I was to be honest with people, they would think me arrogant and delusional. I'm kinda tipsy now, so I might come off as more paranoid and weird than I am
>>
>>38172849
Not right now, I don't need that much more cash than I'm making and it'll go up the more senior I get.

>>38172854
You've described my other main problem with medical graduates: they're all the same. They all think the same things, do the same things and pretend to care about the same shit. It gets on your nerves being around that shit everyday and all you can do is out up with it and keep hiding the kind of person you are.
>>
>>38172931
If you have any patient contact, at least you'll might make a difference for people more similar to yourself. And if you're perceptive about people, you'll be able to have a positive influence on patient's lives with the way your empathy works. Even if a lot of the student's/ now doctors you were with are shit, if you can have a positive influence and effect on patients, who cares?
>>
>>38172842
Yeah, but I don't want to become a doctor.I'm going to medschool to become a pharmacist, because my parents forced me and because you get a lot of ca$h as a pharmacist.
I mean, they forced me to go to medschool, but they are disappointed that I don't want to become a doctor/dentist (or a vet like my dad)

I'm probably going drop out after the first year and I might move into another uni and study IT,because you don't have to deal with a lot of people+you get a lot of money.
>>
>>38169073
This might seem like weird questions, but who are the kind of Women asking you out? Are they younger or older Women? What's the average age? Are they looking for long term relationship/marriage or just dating for fun?
>>
>>38173047
I feel like in our healthcare in the UK I barely make a difference to patients in the long run but that's mainly because I deal with trauma and not elective joint replacements, who usually do alright. And you're right, I should care less about unimportant shit than I do now, just that every now and again I think to the bad old days in uni and it still gets to me. I still have a bit of growing up to do.

>>38173058
Might be worth seeing if you can out up with it though, I didn't want to be a doctor but I think the work is alright and it's guaranteed money at the end of the day even if you take out everything else about the job.

>>38173439
Like I said, it doesn't happen that often but I've been asked out by younger and older girls. The younger ones usually just want a one night stand type thing, the older ones usually want to hang around for longer. Occasionally I'll get asked out by a nurse or student nurse where I work but because I move hospitals so frequently I usually don't keep in touch with them once I've left.
>>
>>38173933
>I still have a bit of growing up to do.

I'm from Norway btw. Believe me, most doctors don't even care if they are "grown up". They see their huge paycheck and that's it.

In the UK you'd get referred to an allergy clinic (which is usually run by the Respiratory team) and they would try and find out what your allergic to. Then they'd refer you to a dietician to talk about what food you can and can't eat. The average doctor won't be of much use since our training barely covers nutrition in that sort of detail because there are other health care specialists whose only job is to deal with patient nutrition.

>>38174059
I don't think I'm either, I'm tall-ish and used to play rugby but I'm not even close to being in good shape. I think I'm just 'funny' and people like that apparently. I'm also less shit at speaking to people now because of work so maybe when people speak to me they think we get along well., I don't know.

ive had a test done, the most expensive one i know of, for 130 foods, i tested positive to 30 of them

but im allergic to so much more that i wasnt tested for, and the few foods on there that im not allergic to, i can barely find a way to cook anything with them and its hard meeting nutritional requirements without trying new shit and getting sick and being set back

Law can be sorta robot, but has its share of chads as well.
