Was Boo Radley the first documented robot in popular culture?

What was his problem? No, really I forgot. Also I love everyone's name in this book. Boo the creep, ace attorney Atticus, Scout daughter of the town's crack shot, Dill, Jem, etc. Makes me want to name one of my kids Scout.
