This is almost exactly what my dad would always tell me, only he was way more aggressive about it and would usually threaten to throw me out after it.

He's a self-employed driving instructor who earns like 9k a year and hasn't had to apply for a job since like 2003.

i was in this same exact boat at your age, but my parents kicked me out of the house. i moved out of state and roomed with an online friend, slept on the floor for about a month before i found a job and could afford a bed. i guess actually staring down homelessness gave me motivation. i make a good amount of money at a bakery now and can afford anything i want.
