It's a shame that the majority of black people don't tip or tip poorly. I'm sure there are plenty of good black people out there who are working to be a counterexample to that stereotype.

Part of why people don't tip is that they've usually already left when the server goes to see the tip, so it's kind of a secret transaction for which they cannot be held accountable. Finally, the whole system is fucked. Customers should not be the ones in charge of rewarding or punishing servers for their performance, that should be the manager's job. A lot of restaurants in the U.S. are moving towards abolishing tips, which is a step forward. Bill was about $30, I tipped the waitress $10, because she was perfect for me.
