I actually had this happen to me recently, it was the first day of wageslavery and before my co-workers worked out I was someone to avoid.

There's no reason you can't stretch your fingers and increase dexterity through exercises. There's also no reason you can't start to learn music theory and practice thinking in terms of it after you learn each fret note and chord shapes.

You can even train your ear to pick up on intervals unless you're unlucky and tone deaf but then you never would have so no big deal.
