I think I should explain why I arrived at honoring traditions being a good (as in moral) thing.
They simplify expectations when you make use of them in different ways by either directly benefiting from the thing that was made a tradition or by building additional social constructs on top of it, since getting people to coordinate around much of anything that isn't leveraging existing culture is extremely difficult.
The traditions don't have to accomplish any more than that to be worthwhile, and if they get in the way more than they help then discard them, but default to supporting them for the benefits those intrinsic benefits they provide if lacking any clear reason to defect.
If the tradition is good as more than just a tradition, that's even better.
To be honest I don't spend any real amount of time honoring traditions outside of holidays and designing things to work smoothly with expectations. Though I'll probably convert to Judaism at some point to play around with the traditions it has for fun and inspiration.
If I get the chance to reinforce a tradition without any real effort I'll usually take it.

Same here minus the car rides. FWIW my only particularly crippling issue these days is insomnia.

Depending what that means it may be a dealbreaker for me. Waiting until marriage I could understand. Absolute celibacy for whatever reason would leave me uninterested in more than friendship or possibly mild romance.

Regardless of whatever you might think at this point, you probably live in Canada anyways, so it's all a bit of a moot point apart from that this has been an interesting interaction.
