If you've really turned things around for yourself and your depression hasn't gotten any better then it's clearly something much more deeply ingrained, something that isn't necessarily conditional, and that's really fucking dangerous. It's normal to be sad and unsatisfied sometimes. It's not normal to be consistently and utterly hopeless and suicidal when you can't rationally understand why, when you feel like your life is, from an objective standpoint, not bad enough to warrant these thoughts. I'm not going to act like I know you or that I know the specific situation that you're in, but I know at least a variation on the feelings that you've expressed and the normalcy that it contrasts with.

You can also probably take solace in the fact that a therapist didn't become a mental health professional so they can judge random people and be a callous asshole. They're in their field because they WANT to help you. You're not the first or the last fucked up person that they're going to deal with. You're not opening yourself up to a person whose point of reference is only normal and healthy people, who isn't going to understand what you're going through because they've never encountered someone with your mindset before. This is a person who is trained and equipped to encounter people who aren't healthy, and more than that, they're experienced in these encounters.

Hell yeah, my day was pretty fucking terrific. I was promoted to manager today after around a year of tedious kissing ass, and scratched a lotto ticket while at the gas station that was worth 50 bucks. Life is going along pretty great right now.
