I just got hired at a new job in Japan.

I'm working at a British hotel in Tokyo.

It's average money but free food and accommodation inside the hotel for the 6 months I'll be employed for.

I walked out of my office job, lost all my friends so I have nothing to lose.

I've been to Japan before, the Ambient night time walks buying beer and cigarettes feels very comfy.

that was the itinerary. i'm not sure what you mean by how did you live, but it was a two week tour and you stayed in a mix of western style hotels and ryokans. i never noticed any xenophobia but i assume our itinerary was pretty touristy so people were used to whites in our areas. not sure how much we spent, it was a family trip so rich daddy paid for most things

it's a huge language barrier. we had a guide who spoke english very poorly. some young people spoke english though, a woman helped me at a train station where i clearly looked lost, and a guy helped me at an arcade changing coins. young people seem to speak english but older people dont.
