I know a lot of people reading probably don't give a fuck about sports and wouldn't be interested watching a show about it, just take my word for it and watch either haikyuu or hajime no ippo. Both have superb animation and character designs, and the sports they play are usually just vessels to carry the characters through life and set a stage for whats happening in the show. The character development and bonds the cast create are way more important than the sports, and like I mentioned above, sports are a great way for the animators to show off their skills.

If you're in it for the long haul and enjoy character or world building, you could also pick up one piece. I know a lot of people don't like the long anime meme and think it would take way too long to keep up, but the variety in the different places the characters go to in the arcs and how much you see the cast grow make it worth it. You also have a lot of time to get attatched to them and it feels like you're watching your friends do stuff.( I'd recommend reading the manga instead, the studio that animates one piece is pretty shit).
