I don't know where you live but in some states/countries/provinces/etc there should be some form of government housing policy regarding single parents who struggle economically. Roof rights to prevent children from becoming homeless etc.

The other option would be to make her compensate through housework, but that could drain energy from her and potentially end up affecting her regular work. Better option would be to help her find a better job that ensures that she will be able to pay the rent on time, even if you have to do the job hunting yourself.
