It all depends on how shitty their setup is. It's possible to make setups that hash client-side with JS, then rehash server side with a hidden salt. This hides both the password and the salt from network traffic inspection, and hides the password from the server as well as the salt from the user. Wins for everyone.

This is also the least common implementation, with plaintext being most common, and plaintext hashed by salt server-side next most common.
