Liberals, defend income tax.

Pro-tip: You can't

I don't know where you live, but where I live our taxes are returned to us in the form of public services. For example, right now I'm a university student. Actually it's my second degree, both on public universities which are the best in my country. And completely free. I'm studying medicine now. A private medicine graduation would cost more than half a million bucks. Something completely beyond my family wealth. But with our taxes, government offers us the possibility of free education. It's true that there are not vacancies for all, only the best will get inside. The selection process is a annual national exam. For me, being among the best wasn't a problem.
Another example, my mother had cancer recently. The chemotherapy costed 2000 per session. The surgery costed 60000. The government paid it all.
Three years ago I broke my jaw. The surgery and the exams would have cost more than 10 thousand. Once more, the government paid for it. That's what our taxes are for, and that's why we must keep a close watch on politicians in the executive to make sure they are spending it right. In my case, I have nothing to complain about.
>>
>>37931770

But why are you entitled to that money?
>>
>>37931445
>you cant
Well ok then.

What does that have to do with being liberal?
>>
>>37931445
Most taxes are good for a country as long as they aren't too high. Income tax would be included in "most taxes."
>>
>>37931445
Also, you are so ignorant and so overwhelmed by memes, that you fail to realize what "liberal" even means.
Liberalism preaches economic freedom, low to no governement intervention on the economy, a self regulating market and the ceasing of taxation barriers. It's literally the opposite of what you think. Educate yourself before talking bullshit on the internet.
>>
>>37931445
From a consequentialist point of view: It has better outcomes for social welfare

From a deontological point of view: social contract
>>
>>37931445
>Liberals, defend income tax.
>Pro-tip: You can't

Well depending on your definition of liberal I suppose I am

You can't. The fact of the matter is, and nobody can deny this, taxation is a form of theft.

Just because it's accepted by most people and agreed upon by the powers of democracy doesn't change that.

It's like if your roommates all got together and voted to comandeer your laptop 1 day a week for house use - is that fair? Depends on who you ask. Your roommates might say it is - someone with more to offer needs to give back more to the community.

If it benefits me it's good, if it doesn't benefit me it's bad. Simple as that.
>>
Many, many of the world's problems would be fixed if we taxed religions.
Those religious bastards are rich and they spend it on fucking kids and killing infidels.
>>
>>37931445
You live in a country, you take benefits of the country's laws and of it's services.

If you don't wanna pay income tax, make your own country and make your own government.
>>
>>37931896
>taxation is a form of theft.

this is the gayest meme ever produced

we need taxes just like children need to listen to their parents for their well being.
>>
>>37931914
>Many, many of the world's problems would be fixed if we taxed religions.
>Those religious bastards are rich and they spend it on fucking kids and killing infidels.

I think 99% of people could agree with this.
There is no reason for religions to be untaxed.

They do charity work? Then they should register as a charity. They shouldn't get off on tax because they preach bullshit.
>>
>>37931896
>taxation is a form of theft.
Stop browsing /pol/. Taxes are needed for any country to thrive.
>>
It's impossible to build a functioning state without it.

>inb4 some sandnigger shithole living off oil revenue and borrowed time
>>
>>37931834
What you mean "I'm entitled"? Everyone is entitled to all public services. Analog, every one must contribute by paying taxes that are proportional to their income. The rich pays more. The poor pay less. Everyone has access to the benefits that the state provide with such money.
The University matter is a result of the unfairness inherent to the system: there are not places for everyone. There are only a 100 places in a medicine class, but what can the University do when 100 thousand want to get inside? If you come up with a solution for that problem, I'll be glad to hear. In the mean time, all other public services are free and globally oriented: theoretically,no one gets left out.
>>
>>37931990

But why should I be compelled to pay for someone else's education? It's their education, not mine
>>
I want to see a bunch of /pol/tard create their own country. They'll probably either force to adapt to the "jewish" way or eating themselves out.
>>
>>37932054
>high literacy rates are a bad thing
I hope you say that's not what you said so I know you don't think this
>>
>>37932054
Because in general, a more educated and skilled populace/workforce makes for a better society (and in turn you) as a whole.
>>
>>37932054
why shouldn't tyrone and his cousins show up your house and 'compel' you to give them all your possessions?
>>
>>37932104

I was really referring to university/college education. I'm all for public education to a certain extent, but the state shouldn't provide you with everything
>>
>>37932054
You're not paying for their- uh, I feel this is useless. Are all americans like this? Too obsessed over their own self to notice they share a world with more people?
You're not paying for someone else education. Everyone is paying for everything. The same way that taxes financed someone else's degree, it financed the road you drive on every morning, the lights that shine your neighborhood, the hospital that will treat your diseases when you so need it. You are also subject to the benefits of social welfare. The same way "your money" might be spent on someone else's affair, their money might be constantly spent on your affairs. You are not isolated on an island, deprived from the benefits of the taxes. You walk over them every day. The sewage that collects your feces, the clean water that runs out of your tap, the police that protects you, your retirement, the institutions that facilitate civil life, everything is being paid with the money of others, and you're entitled to that investment as much as the others are entitled to the investments that your money might have been part of. It's a two way deal. You give, the rest of the country gives and everybody receives.
>>
>>37932113

And why can't everyone pay their own way?

>>37932166

I have a gun, so they would be stupid to try

I'd rather people like anon put their talent towards useful careers without accumulating amm
ounts of debt that cripple the economy. I'd also rather anon's mother doesn't get financially run into the ground on top of having fucking cancer.

Then again a lot of autists don't have much of a sense of empathy, so your position is understandable.

>Why can't everyone pay their own way

You must be genuinely retarded.
>>
>>37932104
>>37932113
>>37932200
I would agree with you if universities were engineer/scientist factories. When you have useless majors entering the workforce with debt that taxpayers then also have to cover, it's a double whammy. Then couple that with the fact that, here im the U.S. at least, we don't have nearly enough "professional" jobs to support the graduates even if they were all grtting hard stem degrees.
Higher education is a business.
>>
>>37932201
>And why can't everyone pay their own way?
Is this bait or are you just retarded?
>>
>>37932233
>>37932272

Explain to me how paying for your own post-secondary education is "retarded"
>>
>>37931445
There is no defense. Income tax was invented to help pay for the (((war))). Now that it's over, there is no reason to keep it except for the fact that shlomo shekelstein's pockets are not deep enough.
>>
>>37932054
>But why should I be compelled to pay for someone else's education?
But you benefit from that education. A well educated work force encourages investment. Moreover an educated workforce leads to job creation. Both of these interact in complicated ways to increase national GDP, which can have the effect of making your country more fiscally sound, making it a preferred destination for businesses. This in turn has the effects of increasing local wages, leading to you earning more money. So in the long term you benefit from it.
>>
>>37932201
Because most of population cannot afford it. If universities were private only, only the elites would have access to it. The rest of the country would consist of unqualified worker force doing low entry jobs. This literally decreases the potential of the country to produce technology and to compete in the global market. Take a look at South Korea, the only country that surpassed the development barrier. They reached a point where 40 percent of their internal product was destined to education investments. And yes, superior education included. Now they're on par with japan, Germany and usa in technology production, and are among the richest nations world wide. In the meantime, nations that have such petty thinking like yours will remain forever in poverty because their people is only good to operate machines and harvest the fields, jobs that require no superior education.
You really think that you gain nothing with an educated society? Typical selfish thinking american. If the society as a whole is better educated, the social development levels increase on every way possible, from less violence to less unemployment. And that affects your daily life because you, guess what, share a country with those people.
>>
>>37931896
>taxation is a form of theft

Taxation is the reason you have a government and military to begin with.

>>37932054
>But why should I be compelled to pay for someone else's education?

So ghetto kids don't grow up to be gang bangers who murder you for the spare change in your pockets. You can't blame them for being born to irresponsible parents. Unless higher education is simply handed to them, there's no way they're going to be able to afford it. Besides, it's an investment. Assuming they put that education to use and land themselves a career, they'll be paying taxes like everybody else.

>>37932201
>And why can't everyone pay their own way?

This attitude is exactly why gay-for-pay porn exists. No self-respective man should have to suck Chad dick to put himself through college.
>>
>>37932267
Than criticize the problems inside USA universities.
In my country, where we have actually free public universities which are the best in the whole nation, the investments are being paid back every day as our specialized workforce enters the market.
Useless degrees are a thing but are also a minority.
Your problems are because of poor management and lack government planing administration. Not taxation.
>>
>>37932443
Well what is the great country you speak of? I'm only asking because the problems endemic to the US are common elsewhere, at least in some form.

American tier education at work.
>>
>this much effort replying to bait
>lookatallthefucksigive.jpg
>>
>>37933572
How exactly are you going to make medicine and engineering universities, whose degrees cost about 600 thousand dollars, affordable for poor people?
You mean, poor people would get the cheaper and "lower" degrees, whilst the top 10 graduations would be filled with the Elite's children to perpetuate social inequality, consequentially increasing the poverty rates, which would lead to more violence, more segregation and a less harmonic society.
You literally have to blind yourself to the rest of the population and lock your ficus on your own belly to fail at seeing that public investments on education mean better quality of life for the entire nation, you included.
