The bitterness and hops are intentionally out of balance, you drink IPA for the bitter and hops. If you just want high abv I'd suggest a dubbel or tripel.

I still don't understand bitterness though. I've had beers that were 100+IBU that seemed less bitter than ones in the 80s. The body and residual sugars play a big role in perceived bitterness. You could also try looking for IPAs with higher FG.

That's the problem with a lot of IPAs and why I've grown less fond of drinking them over time.

It's also my Cities no.1 beer, so it's oversaturized the market. In all honesty some bottled European beers I've had beat the cities finest on tap IPA's in terms of richness and flavor.

I'd kill to try German or Belgian beer on tap.

This is my choice. It's cheap bud light but with a higher apv at 6%. Best cheap beer to drink to get drunk. Doesn't taste amazing but at the price I get it, you could only beat it with bottom shelf liquor.
