The "omg they are goody-good moral little prancing fairies" side of INFP is a little overdone yeah. INFP just means you can easily see yourself in other people's shoes. It means being able to see the good in neutral/bad people easily, but being also able to see the bad in neutral/good people easily. Empathy cuts both ways.

Also, they are also kinda intellectual-ish like the NTs, so it's possible to fall into hating the world and "reee retarded normies".

I normally test as INTJ, and occasionally ISTJ and ENTJ. If I didn't know cognitive function theory, I'd probably be able to foll myself into thinking I'm an INTJ.

I think it's because I have exaggerated Ti, that the tests just assume Ti and Te to both be "Thinking", and I test as an INTJ because my Ti shows more in my outward behaviour than my Fe. That's my theory.

Also IQ isn't everything, motivation and planning and hard work matters a lot more. Also you occasionally have to shill and just give the teachers what they want to see, my INTP friend nearly failed a paper because "muh intellectual principles"

Besides since MBTI is self-reported, it may only measure who you think you are/want to be. For example, there's lots of people who fly off the handle at the slightest thing but want very hard to be "logical intellectual who is logic >> emotion", so they get INTJ, despite the fact that they do stupid emotional shit impulsively and then keeping trying to "rationalise" that later to seem "logical".

TL;DR INTPs just think they are smart, but may not be. Even if they are smart, lots of other factors matter more for grades

How well do they function? Medicated? I have a friend that people have suspected to have ADHD, ENTP. He seems normal, if high-energy, but on worse days where he can't restrain himself it's almost comical. He'll shout random shit, touch things, and shake impulsively. Not diagnosed, but fuck, dude.

If something bad happened to someone, I'd try my best to feel how they would feel, even to the point of simulating their situation. Do any other INFPs do that?

Medication is important yeah. My partner is on rit, and he's still high-energy and high-functioning while on it so it's good. The meds just removes the really annoying stuff like being three hours late to stuff, and he says he can finally get things done.

Also I don't have many friends. One partner, an ex and two friends are diagnosed, the other two friends have adhd-ish traits but not enough to affect their daily life and quite obviously not enough for a diagnosis. I don't actively seem them out, it just happens.

But shaking and shouting sounds pretty wacked up yeah, he should really get that checked out. Meds plus therapy makes a big difference.

Im INFP and my problem is more that I automatically feel too much of another person's feelings, and it's hard enough to stop that. I'm either really good at comforting people because I can empathize when they come to me with a sad story, or I'm really bad at it because I've almost completely taken on their sadness, and am thus legit crying when agreeing to all the depressing things thet are saying. I can't imagine becoming a therapist because I'm too easily affected by such things.

I've never been put in a desperate situation where I did as you have, but yeah INFP does a lot of putting themselves in other people's shoes

It's possible, but just don't be one of those people who are anal about "type interactions" taught in MBTI. Sometimes, couples made of types considered incompatible, actually work. You have to feel for yourself which types you might prefer. And even then, due to the general wonkiness and lack of academic rigor behind MBTI, you may get a pretty mixed bag, in that I for example can meet people of the same type as me but who are very different.

However, MBTI discussions involve people discussing a lot about themselves, and counts as social interaction, so you might find somebody you want to talk to.

Fair enough, especially with emphasis on differances between the very same types. Afterall, different types would be more of an overall chasis to build around and go figure results are likely to end up drastically different case to case scenario.
