At this point I think it's too late for American Blacks to simple 'go back' to Africa. Culture is not defined simply by your skin color, but by language, music, food, location etc. The American black and the people that live in Africa currently are worlds apart in terms of current culture so there is nothing to go back to. Also just because you can trace our origins back to Africa eventually doesn't mean that we are closest to our African ancestry. Remember that black people have migrated all over the world so they can be found in the Caribbean, South America and so on. Because of this they might be more closely related to a different culture rather than an African one.

I feel like telling a black person who is several hundred years removed from Africa to go back is like telling a white person of Scottish decent to move to Scotland and attempt to assimilate. Yes it is in your blood, but how much does that really matter today in regard to how you live your life? Especially after several generations. I think it's important to know your ancestry and where you came from, but trying to return to a state that you've long been removed from isn't really a productive way to spend your time.
