Because the world is full of evil people in general, OP. Good people are quickly pulled down in the name of toughening up or maturity, or die early.

You're probably evil if all you can see is evil in others, too. But being surrounded by evil has that effect.

I understand this, though. Surrounding yourself with the toxicity of society eventually makes you toxic as well. I can hardly look at anyone in a good light anymore, least of all myself.
