I'm definitely pretty dumb. I work in a high tech job that I can barely do but I haven't been fired yet.

I took the WAIS-IV: Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale a month ago, psychologist sent me.

You get 2 results back, one put me at IQ 78 for something, and the other put me at IQ 85 overall.

I can barely do basic addition and subtraction, division is beyond me. I slur my words constantly and have a hard time communicating in my native language. It took me two weeks(as an adult) to learn how to ride a bike, I've test driven FIVE times and failed everytime, 25 without a driver's license. I'm also socially retarded.

I took one of those online IQ tests a couple years back and I got like a 90. I should probably be lower tbqh. I never even finished highschool, and spent almost 2 years of my life in prison. Somewhat. Legitimate intelligence tests are most often used to draw conclusions about your accumulated knowledge and your fluid reasoning (your ability to problem-solve in novel situations). Some subtests do inform more specific dimensions, like your processing speed or working memory, but the full-scale IQ (the general IQ score) is the most robust to draw conclusions from.

That said, IQ tests do measure intelligence and you won't get a high IQ by just pattern recognition alone. But, it is a very specific "academic" type of intelligence and it doesn't really mean much for how you function in real life (unless you have an intellectual disability). Unless you're on either extreme end of the spectrum, you shouldn't really worry about your IQ.

If 85 is your general score (FSIQ), you're average which is a good thing. You and the majority of everyone else (~68%) are between 85 and 115.
