Welcome to the comfy chess club. Chess gods and newfriends welcome alike. Come in and find a chess game, drop a greentext, share a joke, or post a chess scenario.
Today I want to share the smothered checkmate scenario; a common, but clever checkmate approach. This checkmate usually occurs when the king is in a castle. The attacker gives up a piece on the back row to the defenders rook, smothering his own king without any avenue for movement. Then the attackers knight moves in for the checkmate.
Can you find the checkmate in 3 moves?

Hey fellow robot, do you know a comfy site to learn chess? Nobody played in my family. Is wikipedia good enough?
I like to move the castle and then win

Hello robot. Lichess is by far the best chess site I have found. They have training for beginners at
>https://lichess.org/learn#/
After you complete the training you should challenge another chess noob to a dual. This is the best way to learn.

Just get good enough at it to the point where you can enjoy a casual game of chess.
Chess is just a hobby. As a sport it's lost most of it's luster after computers started demolishing world chess champions.

What's you highest stat anons? I only ever made it to 1300 in classic 15 min
>>37826070
Around 1500 classic
Around 1500 blitz
Both dropped now, having a losing streak.
I am not bothered enough to really think about the moves, however I am also bad at remembering the positions.
I play anyways to kill time.
I've always wanted to get into chess, but I have no idea where to start
Obviously I'll look into google and read some manual pr something, but do you anons know any useful resources? I'd appreciate the information.

Start by mastering the endgame, it is simpler and can be mastered on its own. Then you study the middlegame in relation to endings. Knowing what is winning and what is not is key for playing well in the middlegame.
Don't fall into the common trap of memorizing thousands of opening moves. Memory=/=understanding.
