Over a decade now. Somehow my life has actually improved quite a bit in that time, possibly due to seeing how the negative attitudes people here have poison themselves. Still kinda depressed but i think it's genetic since i've never not felt it except for a few days at a time.

Yeah, over a decade for me too. My life too has improved, but I have seen many people impressionable enough that they managed to ruin their own lives just by posting and lurking this place. I never understood why that happened, then I realized that normal folks just want to belong and have no real ability to stay true to themselves.

7 years now. 4chan probably has higher "time on site" numbers than most other forums or social platforms. It's ridiculous how you can spend literally 12 hours at a time on one website. This place is like a seratonin drip.

I have been here 8 fucking years. At first I only lurked, after my first couple of years I worked up the courage to actually post something and very rarely posted for another 2 years. For the past 4 years I've been regularly shitposting. Sometimes all day, but most days it's only about 3 or 4 hours. I've had some wonderful times, some disgusting times, some depressing times, all sorts of times.
I think people here have a very narrow idea of what "the normie invasion" means. Normies have been a common thing here for a long ass time. They've shaped this website into what it is today, a memetic cesspool. Even so, there's still little bits and pieces of the "old ways" scattered around, but they're small isolated things that very few people care about. It's the same as with anything that becomes trendy.
Things just aren't what they used to be.
