The main problem with /b/ was always the fact that its denizens thought every single board was supposed to be like that, and they didn't bother lurking to discover the truth. Combined with it being the then most popular board, it drew faggots from across the internet that then spewed onto the rest of the site.
The issues from /pol/ are quite similar. Reddit thinks it's the hottest shit and that everyone who doesn't like it is a shill, so they feel justified in shitposting every other board to death and calling everyone who tells them to fuck off a kike.
