Its against the rules to post under the age of 18
>>37765170
Or maybe I'm doing it soo right desu
>>37765137
but do you actually *listen* to that music? My impression of vaporwave is that its pleasant background music with a cool aesthetic, but i can't imagine sitting down and just listening to it. Maybe not though, I have almost zero knowledge about the genre.
>>37765137
I just made some vaportrap, care to listen to it?
Vaporwave is very good! Here are some of my favorite vaporwave songs:

the low audio quality, reverb, repetition and aesthetic sorta blends together and makes life bearable. I can't really *listen* to any other genre.
Other genres feel like eating heavily salted pizza, feels like eating sand. But something about vaporwave makes it feel refreshing to listen to.
Maybe it's because I spend so much time imagining, what it would be like to live in some future dystopian society, listening to stuff like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9L4q-0Pi4E relaxes my feelings.
What genres of music would you robots recommend?

Listen to my album.
>>37765366
thanks anon, prog sounds sweet.
very interesting stylistically too
>>37765137
OP-san, I have been listening to this record for well over six months now and I can't stop!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpENIPmZ_5Q
>>37765457
sweet ambience man, would be cooler if you could work on the end of each "floor", feels like there's a harsh cutoff, and that doesn't suit the song so well.
Seriously, it feels like I'm in an endless sleep and listening to these is so peaceful.
Thanks
>>37765293
There are a lot of meme albums, but there are some legitimately good plunderphonics-like albums. There's more to it than the aesthetics I believe.
>>37765530
Metaphorically the cut offs represent disconnecting from a connection of the floor. The concept is Nethernet Hotel is a giant tower sitting in a digital realm that holds dead websites. Each room and floor of the hotel is a representation of those websites. That's why on the cover you see tons of dead monitors and the titles correlate.
Thank you man.
>>37765534
That sounds interesting. Want to link me some albums that you think are good? I'm stuck in a bit of a rut musically (pretty much just classical these days..) but I want to branch out more. Pic kind of not related (???)
>>37765595
wow that's like preserving a breath of fresh air, or a taste of a delicacy long lost to cyberspace.
powerful
>>37765646
Some of them sound like a song or a beautiful image picked apart by time, an imortal work of art turned into a zombie.
I'm spooked desu
>>37765426
I love classical. Some people think it's boring, but I think it just requires more patience than other genres of music. If you open your mind to it I think you'll find its very rewarding. Here's a piece by Rachmaninoff that I don't think you'll find to inaccessible. This one reminds me of a nostalgic summer day, with a warm breeze blowing through the grass...

Some of my favorites. I have a lot more if you're interested. I really like Infinity Frequencies sound. I imagine these bizarre worlds as I'm listening to them. Forget the meme that vaporwave is and think of it as standalone albums not associated with the aesthetic. It sucks that vaporwave has the reputation that it has because I don't see it that way at all.
Nethernet Hotel guy speaking by the way.
>>37765170
>>37765293
maybe you don't like traditional vaporwave but you could try future funk which is a sub genre and about as popular as vaporwave itself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5_ez7TGDms
>>37765797
Also I'm on BLCR too, but it's an embarrassingly bad album. I make very different stuff now. If you're curious I'm Internet Homicide on that label.

>>37765708
Thanks, that exactly the emotions I wanted to evoke.

To add to that list, this album makes me incredibly depressed every time I listen to it. I wouldn't consider it Vaporwave, but plunderphonics. It's about having alzheimers and the songs become more and more disconnected as the album goes on.
Can someone recommend me vaporwave that would make me feel as if I was 10 years old walking around an almost empty department store an hour before they close?

>>37765844
Put a limiter in the master, your kick is clipping pretty hard. Pretty good though, wouldn't call it vaportrap though.
>>37766538
Alright thanks for the heads up, anything else wrong with it?
>>37766493
At the start I had mixed feelings, the hat roll didn't really seem to mesh with the background, but around 1:20 I really started to like it.
What do you use for synths?
>>37766643
I used a plug in called electrax it's pretty good. I can see where you're coming from with the hi hat roll. I'm trying to get a robot to rap over this beat he specifically made a request for hahaha.
>>37766714
Reading reviews it seems really good. I usually use nexus and firebird but I might have to give this a try
Lemme know if you finish the rap version, I'd love to hear that too.
>>37765797
Thank you! i wouldn't mind having more recs. I checked out at least a bit of all of the albums, but I will have a closer listen later on. This is pretty interesting stuff, it's very evocative. I think it's interesting when music without lyrics have a kind of narrative like some of these albums do
>>37766811
Of course my soundcloud is https://soundcloud.com/occharacter/
That's where I post all my stuff. I've just recently started sharpening my production, you'll notice varying levels of quality with my tracks, some good some really bad.
>>37766860
I agree, relying on emotion, smart sampling, titles, and album cover as a way to convey concepts is a lot more impressive. And sometimes I believe they say more than telling you outright what the song is about through lyrics. When I make music I always try to create a story without words.
>>37765341
I like this stuff but how is it vaporwave?
>>37767065
Listen to these songs at a slow speed and compare it to Floral Shoppe.
>>37766988
Yes exactly! If anyone is interested in that sort of music (and you don't mind classical) here's Beethoven sonata that i find very touching. The movements are labeled "farewell", ""absence", and "reunion". The transition from "absence" to "reunion" is especially moving.

The most comfy genre of music out there. Normans hate it because it doesn't appeal to their constantly active and noisy lifestyles. Hypnotic voices, repetitive actions, simplistic beats, run down electronic aesthetic, these are all things unique to robots
