Is gen Z so autistic their attention span moves from a fad within 2 months? That's about how long Pokemon GO last summer and fidget spinners lasted.
When I was a kid fads would last much longer. Pokemon was a fad for a full 2 years from 1998-2000. Yugioh lasted at least 6 months, but was probably closer to a year in its "fad" status. Even tamagotchi lasted a few years. But now fidget toys are already collecting dust on every store aisle.

ADHD would be a better descriptor than autism, while kids with ADHD are easily distracted and need to use a lot more effort to focus on anything, autists often focus on one single thing for far to long, including popular culture. Examples of this include Sonic the Hedgehog and old school anime; basically, everything people like Chris-chan like.

Two things probably happened when you were younger
>Time felt longer therefore the fads felt longer
>The internet was new and didn't yet cause fads to spread as quickly and pervasively

You're jumping to conclusions. Pokemon games and the card game had some element of depth, and the turnover of players could be low because the time investment wasn't too high. You could build a collection over the course of years. Everyone did it and you could find people in your range of skill/investment to play it with.
Pokemon GO was immediately unfun because of autists who obsessed over it or gamed the system.
I mean, I don't even need to explain why fidget spinners have a short shelf, do I?
