You brought this on yourself. This is like using windows and complaining about the lack of privacy

Which browser does /pol/ use, then? Chromium?

Firefox has the best extensions though. What else has NoScript or something equivalent to it? Chrome and it's variations save your password in clear text form.

Firefox is literally the best browser and if you disagree you're a dipshit. It is the perfect intersection of being widely used yet possessing a high level of customization options that provides the greatest anonymity while browsing.

>>
>>37730391
It's really slow and inefficient, and it's only getting worse with time. Its engine just isn't adapted to a modern internet full of javascript.
>>
>>37730331
They're discontinuing extensions in November. It will then be ones use a new more restrictive kit.
>>
>>37730442
I've tried using other browsers and they are not really that much faster or "more efficient" (whatever that means) in ways that matter to me, an end user. I don't care if from some autistic developer point of view you think FF is clunk or whatever, it works just fine for a layman. And it has the widest variety of addons of any browser. It's also super popular which helps lower your unique footprint.
>>
>>37730485
>I don't care if from some autistic developer point of view you think FF is clunk or whatever, it works just fine for a layman.
It's fine if you like FF and want to keep it, but you shouldn't talk like that about topics that you obviously don't understand well. When I see how Firefox manages memory, and the effects that it has on the browser after hours of using it, it makes me want to puke.
>>
>>37730485
>>37730548
And by the way, Firefox isn't "super popular" anymore. It's been steadily declining like IE, and rightfully so.
>>
>>37730442
do you only have 2gb of ram or something? chrome is the biggest offender when it comes to ram usage. literally see no difference between ff and other popular browsers besides security features. I don't know why anyone would use chrome or any of its variations. fuck google.
>>
>>37730599
>do you only have 2gb of ram or something?
No, I have 8gb and no browser has ever come close to maxing it. The problem isn't a lack of ram. The problem is that memory accumulation in a process makes that process slow, laggy, and prone to crashing. You might not notice it if you're a casual user, but it's obvious if you use a browser intensively for hours. The problem isn't as bad in chromium as it is in FF, because every extension and every tab is a different process and gets wiped out completely when closed. In FF, originally, everything was handled in the same process and would very quickly bloat it. Now they've been trying to implement multi processes like chromium did under the name "electrolysis", but they're struggling to make it anywhere near as good as chromium.

>Tfw use Opera most of the time
Please redpill me on why is it such a bad browser.
>>
>>37730583
So what, is Mozilla deliberately trying to kill their browser? The only reason I use FF is because of its unique extensions that Chrome and its clones can't copy because their framework doesn't allow for powerful add-ons. And now they want to get rid of that and become a chrome clone. Why? They're destroying the one unique thing about FF.
>>
>>37730764
I switched from chrome to opera a while back. it's not a bad browser at all imo.

fuck google
>>
>>37730764
I don't have much to say about Opera. It's based on the same engine than chromium, so it's mechanically pretty good. Nothing outright wrong with it. However, I personally dislike it because I don't like the UI, especially the way bookmarks work now. It's garbage and they did it only to be "different".

I've tried a ton of browsers, and the one I would recommend right now is Slimjet. It's also chromium-based, but it's pretty fast and lightweight, and it has the best memory management I've ever seen in a browser, though it isn't perfect either.
>>37730808
>he only reason I use FF is because of its unique extensions that Chrome and its clones can't copy because their framework doesn't allow for powerful add-ons.
Well, I've got some bad news for you.

>We are implementing a new extension API, called WebExtensions-largely compatible with the model used by Chrome and Opera-to make it easier to develop extensions across multiple browsers.
>We have decided on an approximate timeline for the deprecation of XPCOM- and XUL-based add-ons.

Firefox was working like shit and I finally installed Chrome. And I'm in Leenux but I don't care lol.

The marketshare for Firefox hasn't been declining, it's been staying constant, what's happening is the market size is increasing and they're all using Chrome.

IceCat and Ungoogled-Chromium are both the better browsers than Firefox and Google Chrome, just so you non-/g/ users can be properly informed on the matter. Firefox has been unacceptable for quite a while now.
>>
>>37730005
Chrome is garbage.. You can even right click view and image or set one as wallpaper
>>
>>37731371
Wrong. Vivaldi is just another chromium fork, just like Opera is right now.
>>37731614
Market share is calculated by percentage, not by total users. I also expect them to actually start losing people once they finally push the update that's gonna make most addons not usable.
>>37731594
You can always get Pale Moon. They plan to keep updating the old system.

Yes, or outside influences have infiltrated the development team or directors board or whatever to deliberately sabotage it and hence increase the user share of its competition.

Firefox is compromised but FF-based browsers are still usable.
>>
>>37731680
Read again. Vivaldi is what Opera was before it went to shit. Meaning that all the things that made Opera great, before they went the Chromium route and abandoned all the great things, are now in Vivaldi.

Vivaldi is created by the same team that created old Opera, not the piece of shit that is Opera today.
>>
>>37731686

Vivaldi
>>
>>37731727
This, even though I use Chromium, Waterfox is comfy and quite safe.
>>
>>37731680
>Market share is calculated by percentage, not by total users.

That's the point, if the total population increases while your own stays the same, the percentage goes down.

>You can always get Pale Moon. They plan to keep updating the old system.

I sure do trust some randoms trying to maintain a massive codebase nobody has the chance to know.

I'd rather trust myself and build exactly what I need.
