H-has anyone ever got in legal trouble for torrenting in burgerland?

I dunno, probably.
I've gotten a warning letter from Comcast and have been to scared to torrent since.

Most I got was an e-mail warning from my ISP. almost a decade ago.
i have torrented everything for the past 10 years and have never received one letter. i use private trackers and no vpn. even if i got a letter i'd just throw it out.

I got arrested and did 18 months in federal prison. Tyrone assfucked me in the shower.
It's just Netflix and hulu for me now, folks.

What did they charge you for specifically? What was your ISP?

Kek, those letters are literally just a scare tactic. There's nothing they can actually do to stop you, and as long as you're not downloading terabytes of kiddie porn nothing's going to happen to you.
If you really give that much of a shit though, just don't seed your torrents. Yeah it'll make you a scumfuck leecher, but companies care more about people "distributing" their content than downloading it, and that's what they usually send letters for.

Got 3 warning emails and a subpena that my mom had to go down to the post office to get. Nothing ever came of it. I have used a vpn ever since with no trouble.
They told my mom what porn I was downloading. Seriously, porn is more dangerous to DL than game of thrones. Those pimps don't fuck around.
I've gotten a couple warning letters over the years.
My understanding of the legal situation is that most media firms have changed their tactics significantly since the heyday of file sharing litigation. By and large, they won't waste their time going after folks who get caught sharing a file or two. Instead, they focus their attention on those who actively upload files or allow peers to access their chunks of a torrent over extended periods of time.
To be safe, just stop sharing as soon as you download a file.
The exception to what I wrote comes in the form of pornographers, who often do sue individuals caught sharing files.

I bought PIA and hypothetically may have been torrenting since yesterday. Almost 0 chance you'll get caught for like 3.50 a month. Just make sure you enable the killswitch and use the proxy they provide.
