Here is Retard-proof way to move to Japan. Follow this step-by-step guide and you will be in Japan by the end.

Save this guide to your computer somewhere. I aint re-posting this shit anymore.

These steps start easy, and get gradually harder. YOU CAN DO THIS.

Step 1.) Introduce yourself at a 4chan japanese language learning general
>>>/int/75850616 (easy)
>>>/int/75932099 (intermediate)
>>>/jp/17154509 (anime weeb)

Why: this step is important because you need to surround yourself in a community that will support and critique your pursuit of Japanese. You will have to stand up for yourself to make this happen

MOTIVATION TIME: If you need motivation to begin learning japanese, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IOZbJ7PCPk

Step 2.) Start learning japanese by learning hiragana/katakana. There are many ways to do this. For average 4chan user I recomend steam game 'Learn Japanese to Survive: Hiragana Battle'. It's a 20 hour game that, by the end, you will be motivated to do this shit: http://store.steampowered.com/app/438270 - There is a sequel called Katakana War but you can safely ignore katakana for now

Step 3.) With Hiragana complete, you are mentally ready to tackle this shit. Download and begin core 6k deck. You can find it here: https://djtguide.neocities.org/anki.html

Step 4.) Start Tae Kim's guide. http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/ . Do 1 chapter every 2 days. 1 chapter every day if NEET.

Step 5.) Set Anki for 15-20 words a day. Your objective is to complete core 6k/Tae Kim by end of year

Step 6.) Start attending college. Maybe a community college that is cheap in your area. You need a Bachelor's Degree to go to Japan. This is not optional unless you get a japanese girlfriend, which you will only find in college anyway.

Step 7.) It is now October 2017 (or October 2018). Apply for JLPT. Choose N3. (N2 only if Tae Kim/Core 6k are both 100% complete)
Apply here: http://www.jlpt.jp/e/
>>

>>37652576
Step 8.) Complete JLPT. Take the Harder JLPT exam next year (N2 in 2018 if you took N3, if you took N2 and passed in 2017, aim for N1 in 2018 because why not)

Step 9.) Get associate's degree from your community college. Get a full-time job and save money. You need at least $26,000 in the bank.

Step 10.) Take 2018 or 2019 JLPT. Pass. Remember, if you fail the exam, you are fucked. Do Not fail the exam. It is only administered once a year. This will be your N2 certificate or N1 certificate. This is your ticket to Japan, TIP: If you have acquired N2 or N1 before getting your associate's degree, it is technically possible to move to Japan "early" on under-graduate visa to complete your bachelor's, but for most learners, you will have to wait until you have a bachelor's

If you got this far, you're probably one of the chosen ones. From here on will entail how you transition to moving to Japan from where you are now, so please be mentally ready for what lies ahead

Step 11.) Acquire N2 or N1 certificate based on how good your japanese study was. Acquire bachelor's degree from your community college. Have $26,000 in your bank account.

The door is now open. Your path to Japan is finally open, anon

Select one a following step and pursue that specific step until its completion and you will finally live in Japan and earn a japanese flag icon on 4chan

Step 12a.) Student visa method - Apply to japanese university. Show everyone your N2 or N1 certificate to bypass japanese learning school requirement. Enter japanese university on scholarship. Stay in japanese university until you find good job, then leave school and transfer to work visa

Step 12b.) Work visa method: Use the website Gaijob to find a job in japan and apply. Show bachelor's degree, and if required for a translator job, N2/N1 certificate.

Step 12c.) Marriage visa: Marry a japanese girl. Get free access to japan. You now have access to every single job in japan. Even minimum wage

>>37652605
>>37652605
Step 12d.) JET Method: Apply to JET Programme. This method does not require $26,000 so if you have trouble acquiring $26,000 this is the method for you. Be warned: JET is 80% autism. You will have severe autistic co-workers who are NOT prepared for Japan. You will be one of the sane, strong 20%. Use time in JET looking for a different job. JET Is a dead-end job, it is only used to get your foot in the door. You will be employed in Japan for a while, use your days off and vacation pursuing other jobs. Also, JET does not require N2. HOWEVER. Your jobs after JET while require Japanese knowledge, so N2 is still highly reccomended if your future is in Japan. Bachelor's degree still required for this method

Apply for JET here (only if doing Step12d): https://jetprogramusa.org/
--
Step 12e.) 10 years work experience

If you can't get a bachelor's degree, and you can't get a japanese girlfriend, but you can save $26,000, there is one method for you. If you work the same job for 10-years consecutively, you can apply for japanese job of the same type. For example: Chef in 10 years in America > Chef in Japan. This is the only step besides a marriage visa that does not require bachelor's degree or N2 requirement.

Step 12f.) Rich as fuck method

If you are "Rich as fuck", there is an easy shortcut to Japan. Attend a JLS for 6 months > 2 years. Find a 5-star JLS here: https://gogonihon.com/ - You will spend roughly $30,000 for 2 years in japan. They will teach you Japanese. At the end of 2 years, they will help you apply to Japanese university if you do not have bacheor's degree. If you have bachelor's degree, they will help you find a job in Japan.
>>
>>37652651
Step 12g.) The Undergraduate Lone Wolf Method

There is little assistance I can offer you to this method, but the "lone wolf" is a variant on the student visa wherein you enter Japan before getting a bachelor's degree and enlist in japanese university to complete bachelor's degree. This is a valid tactic, but unless you're under age 22, there is little financial assistance to help you do this without getting scholarships up the ass, or being rich. But if you go this route, it is technically possible for you to be in Japan next year. However, $26,000 is still needed, and you will most likely need a JLPT N3 at the very minimum for this route.

THATS IT. These are even ways into Japan, and it's all you get. 1 of 7 can make your dream come true

A wife like this could be in your future.

Good luck anon, you'll need it.
Ganbatte, you magnificent bastard
>>
26k is oddly specific. How did you come up with that amount?
>>
Don't come to /jp/

>>37652905
>26k is oddly specific. How did you come up with that amount?

>using 'sage' when asking OP a question

https://www.reddit.com/r/japan/comments/3podyf/student_visa_financial_requirements/

https://forum.gaijinpot.com/forum/working-in-japan/immigration-legal-services/91316-minimum-funds-for-student-visa

2 million yen is the bare minimum for what the japanese government deems to be "Sufficient funding" to prove the ability to support one's self for an entire calender year.

2 million yen translates to roughly $26,000 USD. Every visa requires it except the marriage visa. There are 2 ways to bypass the $26,000 requirement. One is the JASSO/MEXT scholarship program, which is for people who can't financially support themself, this is a way to bypass the $26k requirement, but it requires you do the student visa or lone wolf method to enter japan

On the other side of the coin, $26,000 can also be bypassed by having someone be your guarantor AKA someone in Japan with $26k vouches they'll help you out if you get in trouble, and they have to sign some legal documents.

Is there any way to ensure permanent residence besides marriage?
>>
>>37653025
>Is there any way to ensure permanent residence besides marriage?

5 years of visa renewals qulaifies you for a permenant residency consideration, no marriage required

once you get permenant residency, your trial then becomes getting citizenship.
>>
>>37653088
>citizenship
Is this even possible?
>>
If I know zero japanese and have 2k savings, can I make it to japan until I get a job?
I consider doing it for a few months/ a year just for fun.

Will I find other westerners to hang out? Non-weebs preferably?
>>
>>37653106
>Is this even possible?

Yes. Japan naturalizes hundred of foreigners each year. You must meet 5 requirements

Continuous residence in Japan for five years or more
At least 20 years old and otherwise legally competent
History of good behavior generally, and no past history of seditious behavior
Sufficient capital or skills, either personally or within family, to support oneself
Stateless or willing to renounce foreign citizenship

The Minister of Justice may waive the age and residence requirements if the applicant has a special relationship to Japan (for example, a Japanese parent).
>>
Btw I have no degree, I studied for 3+ years but it was an integrated masters so after dropping outI got no certification whatsoever.
Also english isn't my first language but I guess it doesn't matter so much.
>>
>>37653191
>If I know zero japanese and have 2k savings, can I make it to japan until I get a job?

You can choose
>less than 2k in earnings
or
>zero japanese

there is no way into japan if you have both. getting a japanese girlfriend requires you to know japanese, and getting into school requires you have money

do what I did, pick up a job and start saving. Two years of saving up even at minimum wage can net you $20k

don't buy a car, ride a bike everywhere you go, only eat from the dollar store, etc.
>>
How hard is it to get into Japan as a woman without marrying a Japanese man?
>>
>>37653226
a degree is required for all paths to japan except marriage and student visa

so if you can afford money to attend japanese uni you're good

if you can get N2 or N1 on the JLPT, there are scholarships you can get that will get you into Japan with even $0 in the bank account

>>37653337
>How hard is it to get into Japan as a woman

you serious? Japan has one of the lowest birth rates in the world. There is virtually zero chance your visa gets declined as a woman. You have it really easy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxFVn4YElmc
>>
>>37653273
Can you even live in a place like tokyo with 2k/month?
Btw what kind of jobs do foreigners get?
The only thing I've heard of is English teachers, and perhaps translators if you know Japanese.
>>
>>37653371
>Can you even live in a place like tokyo with 2k/month?

Tokyo for 2k/month? Yeah. The average cost of living in Tokyo is $20,000/year

>what knd of jobs do foreigners get?
um, any job you want? depends on what degree you have (keep in mind bachelor's degree is required to stay in japan and get a meaningful job, so your degree will determine the jobs you qualify for). However, under the Japanese work visa, you can only work high-paying jobs. Cross minimum wage off the list--you can't get it on the work visa. (once you get permenant residency/citizenship, then you can work minimum wage if needed)

However, if you marry a japanese girl, THEN and ONLY THEN do you have access to minimum wage jobs. It's weird, but marrying is the only way to get minimum wage jobs in Japan (until you get permenant residency)

The "English Teacher" is a literal meme. Any job you go to Japan probably has a few foreigners on staff. English Teacher is popular on 4chan because it's an easy, autistic, dumb way into Japan, and also very competetive because so many people apply for it.

Be a real men, forget teaching route, go for real job.
>>
So what's the job market in JP like? Going for a combined economy/pol-sci degree with possible pol-sci master on top. Know pol-sci ain't really useful in a lot of jobs but the economics degree should help.

Would love to visit the political department of Waseda University.

Money, work experience and language learning won't be a problem.
>>
>>37653632
in all honesty, this is an entry-level thread designed to help people "get started" on this epic journe, and you're talking about endgame stuff. your question about the job market in JP might be better recieved in the Japanese thread on /int/, where actual japanese people are talking presently

You won't marry a Japanese girl. You'll still be disgusting you who can't even attract an American girl.

But Japan doesn't want gaijin babies do they?

But perhaps I'll take a look
Have only learned hiragana, katakana and a few hundred kanji. So far it's a lot easier than romance languages.

anon, japanese women are easy mode. i have this japanese girl on LINE and she literally spams baby seals at me everytime we talk. pic related. this is LITERALLY wife material. The ENTIRE COUNTRY is Wife Material.

what's your ideal wife, anon?

japanese girls study and take entire classes on how to appeal to men, and in japan, this takes the form of acting cute. this shows in grown women, who go to great lengths to try and appear to be cute

this also leads to some problems in some relationships, where a girl's personality usually reverts to their normal once they "get used" to you, and realize they no longer have to place so much effort in interacting with you anymore
>>
>>37653942
Nihon is 80% emojis and 80% reactionpics. i'm not even joking. if you don't like emojis, don't even touch Japan. not OP btw

I know I know
Went to highschool (exchange) with some nips in the US, thought me to dislike them.
Prefer face to face communication.
(Yes, I'm not from/r9k/)

>>37654024
Well, cute is okay, but seeing as I have very little experience with women relationshipwise I'm not really sure. Someone down to earth who can enjoy going to a science/technology museum without me explaining everything.
>>
>>37654218
there's a very huge difference in personality between western woman and japanese woman

western woman have a strong sense of indepdence, so they will very rarely ever act cute. if you do find a western women that acts cute, by all means go for her. they're very rare.

in japan, there is still a fight for women's rights. women do not have the feelings of independence that westerners have had for years. from my experience talking to japanese friends, a girl that wants to be indepdendent finds a way out of japan ASAP. Notice how most of the japanese people you see in your country is girls instead of guys? That's why.

So if you do go after a woman that stays in japan, you will more than likely find the kind that is submissive and dependent on you for affection, feelings, money, etc.

you'll really have to talk to some before you get a feel for it yourself
>>
>>37654302

Out of the 3 nips I've befriend 1 moved now lives in the US on a more if less permanent basis, 1 I've lost contact with (party girl) and 1 studies phycology at Waseda.
