Is it really short when it happens? And does it happen randomly?

I think I get something similar. My vision will just blur up {with red and purplish colors like in your picture} and I'll kinda lose my sense of balance.

No it's constant. Like a layer of red on top of red. I had my eyes checked about 6 months back and there was no obvious pathologies
