The whole "college is a scam" is a meme by people who make money telling those they don't need higher education and to buy into their "courses" to (((teach))) them how to beat the "system". That's how they get rich and you stay down.

No because....

If you have ample time you can teach yourself and take on gigs to gain experience in whatever you set forth to do. You'll be better off with no debt, more equipped than a graduate with updated information, and have real world experience to show. Plus at that point you already have your own business going on so you don't have to work for the man.

The issue is the 2nd part many people can't learn on their own and need the "college experience" to succeed.

But I get your point. I study architecture and most of my colleagues are like drones. They all have the same style, think the same way, like the same things, and even dress the same way. You tell them that some pomo bullshittery is a work of art, and they'll believe you. Some will even try to copy it. Whenever we hand in projects, 95% of them is unoriginal as fuck.

But I also learned some useful things in college, and as long as you're not dumb enough to become a part of the hive mind you'll be fine. And, well, you can't really get a job without college either, so here's that. I'm still not sure whether that's a bad thing or not, but whatever.

I've been working for 10 years and haven't put my education on my resume for the past 5 years. Not only has nobody asked about my education (beyond do you have a degree and that only once or twice) but I've mostly gotten second interviews/job offers. This education matters meme is only true for fields that require certification (law, medicine, accounting, engineering, ect...) otherwise people literally only care about work experience.
