Why do people associate the Middle East with eternal war and Europe with peace and security?

I remember a professor telling us that Europe was the number one continent that has been most frequently at war. Even having civil wars and ethnic genocides in the 1990's. Compared to Europe, the Middle East have been mostly at peace.

Why do people not think like this and only look at the latest 20 years?

Because the MiddleEast is also filled to the brim with war and conflict.

China too actually (pic related).

Just because there is warfare in one place, doesn't make another place any less violent.

reminder that the famine under mao was china's last famine, after having a famine like every 10 years for millennia.

Yeah, and that doesn't have anything to do with the exponential increase in available technology and globalisation. It's totally Mao's work that solved famines.
Kill yourself.

Ah yes, the notorious globalisation of 1961-1976.

the middle east is where yurop was in the early 20th century
underlying ethnic and sectarian tensions plus heavy militarisation

there'll be a huge regional war between sunni and shiite factions in the next 20 years (they've been fighting proxy wars for the last decade)

They're done taking over Europe so it's more stable although the people are under control and it no longer belongs to the white race. It was at war the most because it was being conquered throughout the 19th century. Now the Middle East is the next target for the conquest so it has become the new blood grounds. After they've taken over the Middle East it will be more war in Africa, South America or Asia. I'm guessing China is too powerful so it will be in Africa or South America.

I genuinely believe Mao has been the greatest and most notable leader in the 19th century, China's greatness today is built on the foundation Mao left behind. He is the father of the #1 future superpower and is worshipped by 100's of millions of his people

3-10 million

Doesn't include the deaths from the war against Japan, the Civil War, deaths resulting from the state sanctioned "trials" or the people who were unaccounted for because record keeping was notoriously shit in China.

As the other anon says globalisation and relative peace as a product of the Modern era is the reason for no further famines. Mao was a lazy failure.
>>
>>37556281
>18 million
Which is on the scale of 13 million.
>3-10 million
Which is below the scale of 13 million.
(And also not a famine.)

Globalisation didn't truly begin until the 90s. Peace is granted, but part of the reason there's peace is that Mao killed all those who opposed CPC rule. (The important thing not being any correctness of CPC ideology, but simply ending the infighting that had dogged china for millenia.)

All Mao did was drive infighting underground. It has always existed and will always exist. They are mass deaths caused by Mao because as far as I know prior to him nobody was so dumb that they drove the Chinese people into the ground and killed them with stupid fucking initiatives.

Focussing on famine is also somewhat of a red herring. Leaders can't always be held responsible for poor harvests, especially in a time where technology and knowledge wasn't advanced as it is today. Even today, though, large swathes of China are completely backwards and behind, specifically in the country where crops are grown.

It's more about the obnoxious exceptionalism.

I mean America still doesn't understand why Iran doesn't like them and acts like Iran are just meanies ignoring how kind America are.
(It's not just the murder of 250ish civilians on a plane that was inside Iranian airspace, it's also the overthrowing their democratically elected government and replacing it with a tyrannical monarch, having the CIA train the security services in torture, backing Iraq in a war of conquest that lasted nearly the entire 1980s...)

>why do people associate and recognize current social and political climate over past political and social climate they weren't alive for
Middle east was mostly united by the empires that conquered it. Europe was more sectarian with multiple rival world powers. Also using Yugoslavia to pigeonhole Europe as a whole.

And what's the problem? I'm not American but I want to see my people advance beyond others, even if it's over others. Why do you think we should be all coming together or even really giving a shit about what other countries think if it doesn't serve us?

Like, I don't like unironically self-identifying robots but if I'm out at a club or a bar or wherever and I see a robot who belongs to my people getting shit on by a group of outsiders I'm still going to stick up for the robot like his shit doesn't stink, even though I couldn't stand him in other situations.

Tell me, what is wrong with this line of thinking?
>>
>>37557296
>Why do you think we should be all coming together or even really giving a shit about what other countries think if it doesn't serve us?
Because self-awareness does serve you. It's not about caring what they think, but understanding it.

America is the autist who can't understand why people got upset at what he said, not the cool guy who knows why people are upset and doesn't give a fuck because he only cares about his own.
>>
>>37557325
Is it that they can't understand (despite having knowledge of why) or that they don't care? What makes you think they're autistic when supplied with the knowledge of why they're viewed as dickish cunts?

This is why anyone who is decently intelligent is wary of patriotism, they get lumped in with the zombies who have faecal matter for brains, the retards who hear "America" and instantly chant, the imbeciles that believe when politicians lie to you, when they tell you pre-emptively attacking nations is in YOUR interest, they swallow it with a smile and say "can I ave some more"
>>
>>37557373
Almost certainly that they can't understand.
>What makes you think they're autistic when supplied with the knowledge of why they're viewed as dickish cunts?
They're rarely supplied with that knowledge. (I have to emphasise, I'm not talking about individual Americans - but America as a whole, in terms of how it acts internationally, etc.)

They've made far too many costly (financially, reputation wise, etc.) foreign policy blunders for it to be simply not caring and acting in their own self-interest.
>>
>>37557401
Why is this an issue though? What is wrong with patriotism per se and not with corrupting exogenous factors?

>>37557420
Can you blame America then? Or is the blame rightfully deserved by the international third parties who collude to keep America ignorant?
>>
>>37557561
>Or is the blame rightfully deserved by the international third parties who collude to keep America ignorant?
No, it's America. More than anything it's America's failure to remember past experiences. No amount of international collusion could stop America taking a look into their own archives.

America just can't help itself. I mean, even in Syria circa 1949, they were getting involved in silly nonsense. (This too is now forgotten. Assad is just a bad man who came out of nowhere circa Arab spring...)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/entries/d3921cac-2144-306a-9f6e-712c0c685010

In a quote (actually from an American, but I emphasise, it's *America* as an abstract entity that has the problem.)
>All the Americans were convinced that it was a brilliant plan - except for one man, a young political officer called Deane Hinton. Copeland describes a moment when they were out in Damascus planning the coup when Hinton turned to the rest of the group and said:
>"I want to go on record as saying that this is the stupidest, most irresponsible action a diplomatic mission like ours could get itself involved in, and that we've started a series of these things that will never end."
>Deane was promptly kicked out of the group and ostracised. The coup happened in March 1949. It was the first post-war military coup in the Middle East. It was a great success and the American celebrated "opening the door to Peace and Progress"
>But then Za'im immediately went back on all his promises and turned into a violent tyrant.

Now in this case there was some misleading going on - but regardless Hinton was absolutely right to point out it was a crazy idea for them to get involved.

And now they're doing it again. Surely if we remove Assad, Syria will become a nice pro-Israel democracy like Libya, right?
>>
>>37557657
I think you fail to discern America from the corrupting influences that guide it.

However, I will read your link over time, it's quite long and I've been drinking but it seems very interesting, so I won't reply to what it says. I did read the initial paragraph though and it makes me wonder; did America get through it's youthful optimism in the years proceeding WWII or am I right in believing there are third parties encouraging the continuance of a nation's youthful naivete
