I sort of understand this. I don't completely lose interest in a book because the protag gets in a relationship, but I just can't even slightly relate. I guess I can't really blame people, given sex is basically the most important biological function after eating/drinking, and it would make sense for it to be hugely important to any society. Unlike modern entertainements that give a relationship pages and pages / episodes and episodes, in this Camus book it doesn't take a central place. Just few paragraphs. There is no feely feely.

Though, I still wonder about this- at the very end. Meursault shows a great deal of emotion at the absurdity of humanity and god as a whole, and goes onto hoping that there's a lot of people who hate him in the crowd that gathers to watch him get axed.
