I realized they were fucking psychos and should be in a psych ward. I finally grew up and later realized that I was just trying to fit in somewhere and that was the easiest place to get "accepted".

Same here, I had the cool political know-it-all folks in a pedestal. It took mea a long to understand they didn't have the answer to every question, (no matter how cultured they were) though.
