Within the show, there's a superpowered alien race called "Gems" and while they're essentially genderless, they all have female characteristics.

Naturally, some of the gems have an attraction to each other, and being a kid's show on cartoon network, it's really rare to portray relationships that could be seen as homosexual.

Also, the main character, despite being male, lacks the traditional characteristics of a male protagonist in a "superhero" show, and instead of following the path of his "father" his "mother" is the central path he has to follow, and he is trained by the feminine Gem race.

Tumblr LOVES shows that depict anything resembling an alternative lifestyle or LGBT shit, so they eat up Steven Universe.

Tbh I only watch this show for the plot and fap material
