practice every day. more than an hour, several hours on the weekend. get a teacher. learn the fundamentals. find where you make mistakes. stop making those mistakes. keep at it. don't fall into a weird existential despair where you see no reason to make music.

I know but it's the closest pic I have to a guitar.
>>37431589
I don't want to though
>>37431517
keep succing and just teach yourself some power-chords. Seems to work for most bands :^)
strum it till it hurts, go from a zero to an hero op
>>37431517
Dumb question. Dont play it. Congratulation, you no longer suck.

I recommend the series how not to suck at guitar by Ben eller. Also if what you're playing doesn't sound right it's probably your rhythm, legato, or tone.
Learn an Aminor sweep. Super flashy, then whenever you pick up a guitar in front of people, play it and say "Man I haven't played in forever." everyone will think you can play but really you can't. It's a shortcut.

>easy
Roastie can't even play fake guitar >>37432748
Just keep playing and keep learning different riffs and songs. How is that hard? It's called practice. And I'm not saying you have to play for like 1 hour every day like some other anon said.
Find interesting chord combinations and make them your own.
i played guitar between ages 15-19 then gave up because i sucked. i was a little regretful at first but then i realised the guitar is really a pretty dull instrument

It was dull because you weren't creative enough to make it interesting.
Serious Answer:
1.) Practice for at LEAST two (2) hours a day. No less. Always practice more than you think you need to.
2.) Abandon social life, and then come back to having friends and family when you're proficient.
3.) Record yourself and listen to yourself. Make notes on what your flaws and strengths are. Improve your weaknesses, and play to your strengths.
4.) Try to recreate every song with a guitar you hear.
5.) Try to write your own material as much as possible.
6.) If you sound good while practicing, you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to suck at whatever it is you're currently learning. Move on to something harder. You're only supposed to sound good while rehearsing, not practicing. There's a difference.
7.) Try to start a band. It's nice to play with others. This part isn't totally mandatory, but it helps.
8.) YouTube is your friend.
9.) Internet forums are your friend. This includes Reddit. Yes, I know, but you're never going to get solid, specific advice (other than this) from 4chan. 4chan has brainwashed you to hate Reddit, but some subreddits are actually very useful for serious discussion.
10.) If it hurts, stop. Nothing should hurt. Tiring? Sure. Exhaustive? Fine. Repetitive? OK. Physically painful? Stop; you're doing something wrong.
11.) Do your finger exercises daily.
That's about it.
