Yard work. Literally any job where you hold something with a handle and apply force. Do it often and you'll develop calluses. If you want to get them dirty and worn looking start doing outdoor activities or work on cars. Honestly camping is a really great robot hobby because no one judges you for doing it alone, you get plenty of chances to mess up when you're inexperienced without others judging you for it, and eventually learning the various skills will help to improve your confidence and make you a little bit more interesting to others.
