A question for all my brother oldbots.

I vaguely recall reading or hearing somewhere that our taste in music is pretty much cemented by the time we hit 16 years old.

Since about a decade or more has passed for everyone here, do you still find yourself listening to the same genre or style of music from 10-15 years ago?

What happened to artists or bands that you were into back then? Are they still around?


I was into punk and metal and emo and gangster rap and all sorts of edgy alternative music. Really not so much anymore, I really started moving past all that around my early 20s. These days I listen to all sorts of music genres from jazz to j-pop to reggaeton and I sometimes will check out a new band or new album from an old band but it's very rare

It's especially rare with punk because I only really listened to punk for the politics of it and I don't give a shit about politics anymore. Punk without politics or teen angst is not very good at all. Most of the bands broke up or they sound really nothing like they used to, one of the singers became a tranny and now only sings songs about being a tranny, etc.

I did really enjoy one song from Sum 41's last album, and a few songs from Rob Zombie's last album too

Everybody I know moving on in life while I'm stick at mentally being 18. I no longer have friends and have no financial prospects (which would be meaningless anyway). The issue of women was settled in my teens anyway, I'll always be a horribly unattractive guy but at least back then I felt like I had prospects elsewhere.
