contrary to popular opinion, watching shojo is not gay. there are two benefits.

1.) Girls watch shojo, so by watching shojou you are building connections with fellow girls and have shared interests to discuss. Now you have something to talk about!

2.) Male role models. By seeing the cool dudes, and what I do in this scenario is try to watch the anime from the "guy's" perspective instead of the girl's which is a bit tricky but it works a lot, you can figure out the types of guys that girls actually like, and use that to your advantage.


Here are my reccomended Shojo-esque animes that I've confirmed that girls watch and like

going from 'younger girls' to 'older girls'...

1. Shugo Chara! (guys watch this too, but it's about 50% girls 50% guys. Girls that watched this were probably 16 years old when they watched it. but it's still watchable today)

2. Vampire Knight (17~18ish)

3. Anohana (technically a Seinen but girls really like this anime. 18~22ish)

4. Usagi Drop 21+ (only pop this one if the girl you are talking to is 20 or over. Usagi Drop is an anime about being a father and raising a daughter)

5. Yona of the Dawn - A romance that takes place in traditional medieval Japan. It's really popular with girls right now. Also 21+


there's lots more out there, but vampire knight really is the best anime to start getting into this mindset.
