I mean I get this, I've tried it, but I always felt like an outsider. Like after the hobby group up they would always be going out together to eat or see a movie or something and I would never be invited, even after a year of attending. They really didn't need any new friends. And I'm not gross or weird looking in general

Adults don't have any time for that shit. By the time you're done studying and wage cucking for the day, you might have the energy left to go to gym and try stave off the inevitable middle age spread. If, and only if your commute is short enough.

The rest of your time will be spent on maintaining what relationships you do have, doing housework and paying bills and looking after your household.

Once kids become involved, even Chad and Stacey lose their ability to socialise to a great extent.

I honestly have no idea how to make friends outside of work.
My best friend is a very social dude who gets along with everyone we meet and I am just this hanger-on who can't make friends without him.
My only other friend is also the kind of person that makes friends with everyone he meets online and when he introduced me to some of his online friends in livestreams and such I just clam up and leave. its a nightmare.
