I've actually been to Thailand for the first time recently (I started my trip in Bangkok and made my way up the country, making stops in certain places where there were landmarks or whatever) and I'd say it really depends on where youre going, but from my experience I can tell you that there's not much you can do apart from going shopping(even though most things in thailand are dirt cheap that wont stop the locals from trying to squeeze each and every penny out of you; but I guess thats how you'd expect people to treat foreign tourists), visiting ruins(You'll often find yourself looking at run down budist temples which appear to have been copied and pasted all the fuck around), watching the pingpong show(trust me, if someone tells you its free dont listen to them, I got scammed out of 100 euros for falling into that trap) or fucking a ladyboy.

5. Do not insult Thai king, queen, royal family members or even their dog unless you want to spent 25 years in jail or get butchered by angry Thais.

Thailand is safe as fuck. I used to walk down to 7-11 at 2am with zero situational awareness. Just never trust a tuk-tuk driver and you'll be fine.

Pretty obvious advice, but still worth repeating given how many guys do that every year. Part of the problem is that some of them are so sweet. A twenty year old farm girl who's only been working in the bar for a few months is nothing like a haggard, meth-smoking hooker in the US. I actually know some old dudes who are happily married to former bar girls (10+ years of marriage). Plenty of horror stories though. Foreigners can't own land in Thailand, so a common scam is "girl marries white guy; convinces him to build a house (in her name), then divorces him and kicks him out.

Thailand maybe isn't the most dangerous (aka safe) but going out alone in a foreign country that have local language you don't know is always risky. Ofc OP will do as he wants to, it's only my advice.

2. My own experience: avoid Thai girls for closer relations. Not only bar ones. The ones who are studying medicine (a lot of them in city I live), finances or any "good" studies in your country too. If you actually have Thai gf, then I can only wish you not to have similar experiences I had and I still feel afterwards.

About land of smiles? False smiles I'd say. And honestly? Very, very little. I was preparing for long months though. Listening to my countrymen living there, listening to other farangs living in Thailand. Nothing bad happened though. It's just I don't want to remember anything connected with my Thai ex, and I would be glad if she just left back to Thailand for ever and never come back to my country.

Kinda funny though. It's depression after breakup a thing, that brought me here.

I love it here though. Not just the women. I love how safe it is. I love the non-confrontational culture. The weather, the food, thai massage, the food, the freedom.
