Who /collegedebt/ here? Especially those who are in jobs with less than stellar ability to pay it off?

Come on, let's talk about it. That's the first step to handling it.

Oh poor amerifag, how sad is it that you are a couple of thousands usd debt, which you can pay in a couple of years by your huge salary. Just try to live in Russia, if you dont like your utopia.
>>
it's only money so it can't be that bad.
i wouldn't know because I will finish school without any debt because my parents paid for it all
but instead of living on campus i commuted to save money. and somehow a 4 year degree has become more like a 6 year program and that is the real debt i paid
>>
Me. I owe 15k. Anyone know how I can get on neetbux or income support here in Canada Alberta? I'm not disabled in anyway just chronic depression
>>

lol who cares that's not even real fucking debt

Payday loans, now that some serious shit I'm in. Have to resort to matched betting just to stay ahead.

Im pretty sure payday loans are dis chargeable debt idiot.

College loans aren't.

Lol fucking never I've too much pride for that.

What's the point of even going to college in America if you don't go to an ivy league?
>>
My parents are paying my college education. They also bought me a car and pay my rent.

At least when I pay it off I won't be sucking Putin's cock.

But yeah, 64k here. Master's in microbiology

I still have a year left, and then I'll have a bachelor's. I hate what I'm studying, don't want to work in this field, and will likely never have the money to go back and study what I want.

I contemplate suicide daily.

I turned NEET this semester. Will go back for the next one though.

I'm living of my loans. 13K in debt now after two semesters, one of which was failed. Oh well.

Business. I couldn't hack it in engineering. I probably should have never went to college in the first place.

>Didn't really want to work this past summer
>Went from 5000 to 28000 over the course of a year because rent is raping me in my fucking ass

I really wholesomely regret it.

NOW I'm in the awkward position where I don't think I can graduate in the next two semesters because I failed a course. And if this is the case, I might just drop my courseload down and work on getting good grades while maintaining a job, and I'll just push my graduation out an extra semester (so I'd go from 3 semesters to 4).

I'm just generally not happy and I'm JUST NOW finally starting to come out of my shell at college, and idk if I want to waste my last year here swamped to the brim

Any ideas /r9k/? I'm a mechanical engineering major fyi

student debt is fucking meaningless in the UK
>relatively small repayments
>no repayments at all if you earn minimum wage/you're unemployed
>debt gets wiped in 2 years or something

people who complain about student debt in the UK don't know what they're talking about. it's a total nothing. it's the best loan you will EVER get
>>
>>37250592
Wow I'm jealous. I'll probably be carrying around my debt for the rest of my life. It's totally my fault, hut I am still upset about it.

I had 40k debt, worked a job which paid about 12k a year. My parents asked for 1/3 of my paycheck too.

Thankfully the govt (UK) cut student debt in half, now i only owe 20k.

good thing too, because interest is like
+100 EVERY DAY and frankly, I am unemployed with no way of dealing with it at the moment.

still, we can get through it.

if i ever achieve my dreams of being a big successful business i will surely try to hire some robots to help em out.

good luck everybody! dont be nervous. just take it a step at a time.
>>
45k in debt make 50k/yr.
I'll get it paid off eventually.

My parents forced me to go to college, then a car for themselves with money they put away for me. I told them go ahead because it wasnt my money anyways and it's not until years later that I realized that everyone I know that has a good job does because they have transportation from their parents. Looks like I have some jew in me after all.

>making really good money now, with none of it going towards college loans

One day when I amass enough money I'm going to find someone hopelessly buried by college debt and pay it off. I can't take this anymore.

I owe $35K and am on the verge of dropping out.
I just don't care.
If I got a fresh start I know I could make it but the uni won't give me that.

Yeah, our educational system is so unforgiving. I don't know why we tolerate a system that decides tour path in life based on the decisions you made as a teenager. Sometimes I hope it all just falls apart.
>>
>>37251407
The worst part is that you know it's all useless since most people learn everything on the job anyways, otherwise it wouldn't be an ENTRY LEVEL JUNIOR/ASSOCIATE position.

I expect in a year or so there'll be a complete overhaul of the US education system, and the pump n' dump choreography of encouraging students to strive for the best college that costs the most money, and dumping them with a useless degree (even if it's STEM/knowledgeable/etc) to increase profits will be exposed. Everyone in the education system is in on it one way or another. Whether they're a useful idiot that thinks colleges help people or get kickbacks for every former graduate that goes into college.

College is a huge meme and nothing more, and I'm sad that most everyone is falling for it because the system is designed to nearly brainwash everyone into it
>>
>>37251955
I wholeheartedly agree, but worry that may not be enough for those of us who fell for it already. It has 2 things keeping it afloat right now:
1) Minorities who actually do benefit from it since they go for free and get affirmative action jobs regardless of degree.
2) Confused boomers who think it's the same as the college they went to.
Once those two go it'll have nothing to prop it up.
>>
>$10k degree
>60k
Good thing I fell for the STEM meme. Liberal Arts fags btfo.
>>
Education here is pretty much free, and I was eligible for government help despite not really needing it. So I'm actually making a profit. For my master I'll probably go to another, more prestigious university and I'm eligible for grants, so I should still be fine.

Only problem will be when I move out. It's going to be either a tiny apartment with a ton of roommates, or having to fight to death with hundreds of other students for a overpriced studio.
>>
>>37252064
I think no one takes action because it's so tied to social mobility. It gives these institutions a ridiculous amount of power.
>>
>>37252064
Well, there's also the whole shitting on skilled trades culture, looking down on anyone entering a field that tops out at less than $100k a year (regardless of the chance you have of reaching six digits anyways), demanding additional bullshit classes be taken in order to receive a 'valuable' major, so on and so forth.

They're pushing people who would do completely fine their whole lives in easy stuff like HVAC and Electrician work to "shoot for the stars" and chase some stupidly long degree filled with complexity when they don't really care about it. So they end up with a complex degree they don't know how to sell to employers or half the time what position they should even be shooting for, a degree that they only half-care about anyways in a field they let their "feelings" choose by making a general decision on what interests them. Because of this culture, they end up not even using the degree and have to take up even worse paying jobs to try and deal with the insane debt they got straddled with for buying into a brainwashed normie culture meme.
>>
>like 34k student debt
>27k a year loser job
>still live with parents at 27
>took me 3 years to find this piece of shit job after graduation

Fucking kill me. It's already too late. I also studied something I don't care about, and stayed at home while commuting. I lost on pretty much every single level.

At least I avoided wageslavery until I was 26, I guess.

Just hope that Trump's policies finally fuck things up to the point that the entire system breaks. He will be a hero if he does.
>>
Just finished up school paying out of state tuition at a big state school. After scholarships I'm looking at about 25k worth of student loan debts. Not too worried though, in two weeks I start work at an accounting firm making 52k annually. I'll be living with my parents for probably 6 months to a year to cut down on costs, so I'll probably have that amount taken care of within a year or two.

>>
>>37250951
I don't understand this. You could easily pay this off in 2 years. How much do you really need to live off of? Like 10k max. Maybe this is why I'm not it out for (((college)))
>>
>>37252158
It's fucking aids. If you speak against it you're an "anti-intellectual" and hate education. Plus a ton of people don't care because they got theirs which I would be fine with if it wasn't for the fsct that it's now a numbers game with everything from jobs to dating coming down to luck more than every before.
>>37252304
I'll never understand this at all. Not to get overly politcal but
>We need immigrants because there's a labor shortage and college students can't do shit
>who cares if they compete for jobs and it's our own damn fault we were too proud to let our kids pursue blue collar work?
Not to mention that it's so fucking complex to go into trades in some states. Everything is fucked.
>>
Graduated with about 23k debt. Been paying monthly for the past 9 years. 11 months to go before all paid off.
>>
>>37252304
One of the problems is that the people in a position to change it are those that have been treated incredibly well by the system and know their children will also treated well by it, so they have no incentive to change it.
Just look at:>>37250862

>>37252415

It doesn't help when the alternative is people like Mike Rowe are going around heralding things like the SWEAT pledge as their response to the "college culture" and everything that term encompasses. It's a huge wagie thing with actual solid career/job advice intermingled with the absolute most disgustingly corporate-controlled overtones of "do your job and be happy with what we pay you or else you're just not APPRECIATIVE ENOUGH of your blue collar jobs!"

>>37252490
>build a culture that encourages mass-chasing of high-level high-scarcity jobs
>ruin most people with high debt they can't repay because they didn't get one of the scarce jobs they were promised like big daddy govie promised in grade/middle/high school
>restrict old ways of earning money by encouraging double-dipping retirement-age workers to continue working and grandfather them into a system that requires all kinds of complex licenses and insurances the average joe can't decipher

Don't get me wrong, both skilled trades and degree jobs are fucked. Skilled trades are just going to always be in even a slight demand so long as we don't suffer a nuclear holocaust or something, unlike degree jobs.

Yeah, I tune out whenever I hear someone use that phrase. It's typically just a way for those who were treated well by the system to dismiss those who weren't and the justified resentment they have. It's reached the point where I go out of my way to be a dick to people with degrees from prestigious institutions.
>>37252716
Yeah, it seems like things are getting worse all over. Hopefully>>37252354 is right, and it all comes crashing down.

Just got my BS with $0 debt. Glad I live in California where the community college is free for most people and state university tuition is cheap in smaller cities.
