Why don't more robots consider a career like drafting?
>minimal education involved
>get to sit on a computer all day
>no client contact
>minimal contact with coworkers - you literally sit on autocad drawing things listening to music
>make pretty decent money for what you're doing
>comfy af job
Has anyone seriously looked into it? My brother does drafting and he takes 4 weeks of holidays a year, makes $60k CAD, doesn't work OT, etc. etc.
That's what I'm trying to do though.
Im really bad at drawing :/

It's all on the computer - you don't have to be able to draw shit

Hand drafting is obligatory in my uni even though I am a chem engineer. This is now a drafting hate thread.

I failed my drafting class in highschool because it was all rulers and pencils. What are the odds I can make it through a uni class?
I remember drafting was my favourite class in high school but where does someone go if they want a career in it?
Because the jobs that make the most money involve clients/customers, that's why sales reps make more than fucking CPAs, engineers, hell some make more than their managers

It's easier in uni, at least it was for me, because they actually tell you how to do it and not give you an assignment that you have no idea how to complete. But it's still bullshit. I had to make a nice presentation for a friend's english class to get him to make my drafts.

AFAIK you don't have to do hand drafting in CAD courses nowadays.

Probably any local community college
I wonder if I could land a drafting job. I already to tons of work in Adobe Illustrator and I've taken a few drafting classes in college
It does sound like a comfy job but I'd rather sacrifice comfort for a higher salary
I'm a structural engineer. Can confirm most the drafters who work for us are total sperglords. But people just leave them alone and let them do their thing. Most the drafters pumping out my work do quality shit and they're fine once you get to know them a little bit.
>no client contact
>minimal contact with coworkers - you literally sit on autocad drawing things listening to music
I'm interning with a drafter. This is false.

What field? Small or large office?
Nice digits btw
Does anyone know any freeware CAD?
