I haven't driven in over a year. Today I have to navigate a fucking full size pick up through the downtown core of my city.

Good think I learned to drive in a Ford Explorer.

anyone else /roadrage/ here? i'm normally a pretty laid back guy, but i get so fucking mad when i see a bad driver on the road, like screaming FUCK by myself in my car mad

It helps to have tools, a knowledge of fixing and maintaining your vehicle, and a car that's easy to work on. That alone will keep your costs down.

If you drive your vehicle for any reasonable amount of time (I commute 40 mins per day), things WILL fail on it. I got my Jeep as a graduation present at 80k miles. I'm now at 180k, so far I've had to replace the throttle position sensor, water pump, all spark plugs and leads, ECM, and the muffler. If I would've taken it to a mechanic for all that, I'd be broke. Vehicle autism saves money and keeps you on the road.

my motorbike and van are where it's at though

i rove my van all over canada this spring, it was awesome. hopefully i'll make enough money this summer to buy a sweet bike and haul in down to the states and ride it around this winter

The first week i had my license i drove a state away at 16(i had a permit for a year beforehand so i had some experience) and driving down the interstate is so exhilarating and whenever i have free time and money i go driving. If your going to start now is the time, when i started gas was $4 a gallon and now its less than $2

I love driving down roads in the middle of nowhere but i guess thats just personal preference.
Everyone gets nervous driving through cities. They are the worst roads ive ever been on and all the roads in my state are on a grid system except the capital plus the lanes are thin af.

I can agree with you that city driving can be stressful, especially if you aren't familiar with the area. Driving in the mountains can also be stressful, because one fuck up and your car is falling off a cliff.

I live in Nevada, so I go driving on highways in the middle of the Mojave desert while blasing music for fun. It is a great way to spend time alone.
